Man I'm a big old school idiot. I thought relationships started out as friendships

I always thought you started out as friends, then you moved onto dating if you both found each other attractive, then after you get to know each other more as boyfriend and girlfriend, then you get sexual after a few months

but apparently you have to start out relationships sexual, then you do the going on dates and getting to know each other stuff

Sexual compatibility is a huge part of successful relationships. There's no reason you shouldn't be discovering whether you're compatible on that level at the same time as you're exploring compatibility on other levels in the beginning of a relationship.
