Ensure you address British miscers with our proper titles in future.

The highest grade is duke/duchess, followed by marquess/marchioness, earl/countess, viscount/viscountess and baron/baroness. Dukes and duchesses are addressed with their actual title,

The appellation "Lord" is used most often by barons, who are rarely addressed by their formal and legal title of "Baron".

If you are unsure as to our exact title, I consider it acceptable to use the term "Squire" when addressing us, which means you are talking to someone of higher social standing than yourself.
