I think majority of watchcells are losers. but owning 1 or 2 nice watches you like that look classy...sure (assuming its well within your budget). no one making less than 500k a year should be buying a 10k watch full stop. But if someone making 900k a year wants to buy a 20k jaeger lecoultre go ahead.

99% of people should not spend more than few k on a watch.

I make great money and bought a 1k used Omega seamaster from the 1960s in the diamond district in NYC. yeah I can use my phone to check time or buy a smart watch, but I think theres something to be said about checking time the old school way (srs).

I've never really had a super expensive watch, but I legit like more styles in the cheaper range than say... rolex's

However I will say Rolex catalogue is vast. I'm sure there is one I'd like but the fuken dive watch looking one, or the ones most people flaunt I don't like. There are legit several companies that do the dive watch better imo

Very few companies do their own movements and stuff, and some that do are cheap

2) luxury watches are one of the few frivolous things that don't depreciate. You can buy a Rolex at retail today and get the money back within 12 hours anytime you need. Often times with profit.
3) people in sales jobs live in a diff world. At least one client stuck with me because we connected on the watch collection

I make under $200k and spent about $40k on watches last year. No regerts

1. My son is on my payroll for cleaning my office each weekend. He makes $100 per week, which goes straight into his Roth IRA. He will have around $140k in his retirement when he turns 18

2. I moved the home I inherited from my mother into our trust and am leaving it to him outright when he is 35. He will be able to occupy it for free when he's 18. He's never going to have to pay rent in his life.

3. I have 1.4 million credit card miles between Chase and Amex. We can already take a vacation anywhere we want.

4. He is inheriting my watch collection

5. We already live in a master planned community and he's already been in private school since he's been 3, and will continue to be.

6. We already have the cash saved for our next down payment, and will be turning this home into a rental. It will be paid off in approx 9 more years and our daughter will have the same arrangement as our son does with the other property.

I drive a paid off base model Subaru and wear $6 tshirts. We were making it just fine on $75k per year. Most of the extra cash now is literally just being hoarded for kids.

Take away the logo of seiko and rolex and most people will not be able to tell a difference unless they are watchcells. I never understood it and never will.

I have one expensive watch i splurged on which was an omega Seamaster and imagine my disappointment when I'm looking at a video of a guy who does watches for a living and said he can almost not tell the difference between the genuine and replica. One minute difference only visible to an expert in the field.

I was looking for watches for product marketing for a luxury watch case and ended up on reptime, it's incredible how good the new reps are. Some of the rolex superclones have nicer looking laser engraving on the crystal

Also shocked that there are 1000 dollar Chinese tourbillions now.
