Russia overtakes Saudi Arabia as China's largest oil supplier

Russia overtook Saudi Arabia to become China's largest oil supplier in the first two months of 2023, according to Chinese government data, as buyers bought sanctioned Russian oil at a discount.

Deliveries from Russia amounted to 15.68 million tons in January-February, or 1.94 million barrels per day, which is 23.8% more than 1.57 million barrels per day for the corresponding period in 2022, data from the General Customs Administration showed on Monday.

A former Russian economy minister has blasted the country's sanctions-hit economy and warned of a looming financial crisis.

"It's not that we're in the ****, it's that we've decided to settle down in it," Andrei Nechayev, Russia's former economy minister, said at a financial forum last week, according to a translation by The Insider, a Russian independent outlet.

The outlet has no affiliation with Insider.

A video of his comment at a panel discussion was uploaded to ******** on May 16 by Vecherniye Vedomosti, a local media outlet. Nechayev's comment triggered some nervous laughter from the audience, the video shows. One person even applauded.

Nechayev, who was Russia's first economic minister from 1992 to 1993 after the fall of the Soviet Union, also warned of a looming economic crisis for the country.

Per The Insider, Russia has already exceeded its budget deficit plan for the first four months of 2023. Nechayev said Moscow has enough reserves to cover the deficit for just one year but will have to borrow thereafter.

Russia reported a federal budget deficit of 3.42 trillion rubles, or $42.5 billion, in the first four months of 2023 — overshooting its full-year plan for a deficit of 2.9 trillion rubles, Bloomberg reported on May 11, citing official data.

Russia's economic situation isn't surprising — its energy revenues have slumped 50% in the first quarter of 2023, thanks to a G7-led $60 per barrel price cap on seaborne crude and bargain-hunting from Asian buyers.

Prices are dropping because interest rates are rising to try and combat inflation and stem the tide of foreign countries dropping US treasuries in particular.

It means your economies are in bad shape, and headed for recession. This is not you sticking it to Russia or overcoming any supply issues, any country that relies heavily on commodity exports tends to be boom/bust. You even see this with countries like Australia. It has nothing to do with the sanctions.

The bill is going to come due soon, because once rates stabilize inventory starts to get rebuilt and thats when the prices rise again.

Russian state media and some Kremlin-linked businesses are proposing a six-day work week in order to fund Russia's war in Ukraine — without additional pay.

According to an intelligence update from the UK Ministry of Defence, the state-backed media and business groups "have petitioned the Economic Ministry to authorize a six-day week for workers in the face of the economic demands of the war, apparently without additional pay."

The intel didn't say which groups were proposing the change or whether or not it would be approved.

The ministry also cited Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of state media broadcaster RT and a prominent Russian propagandist, who said last week that citizens should clock into munition production factories for two hours each day after their regular jobs.

The additional work day is marking a shift towards "mandating citizens to actively make sacrifices in support of the war effort." The ministry suggested that this reflects a "Soviet-style sense of societal compulsion" and also creates a broader tone around the war as a communal Russian effort that all citizens are involved in.

Yes you stupid retard, because during times of high interest hikes people consume inventory above replacement level. As rates drop or stabilize, they build inventory up again. Consumption of inventory above replacement = price drops, inventory build up means price increases until it levels off again, after which volatility dissipates.

Basic eco 101 when it comes to commodities markets. Stick to sucking off Kangz in your dying city.
