Their argument is that it would save lives and that we need to have a better vetting process for those trying to obtain one. The right says it’s their constitutional right to have guns and it should not be infringed.

My question is, couldn’t the right say this about voting? Could they not say we need tighter restrictions on voting because not everyone has the capacity to know what they’re voting for or is even legal to vote? Could the right not say that voting for the wrong policies can be just as deadly or WAY more deadly (border/******** crisis) than any gun? The left, in a similar manner, says it’s their constitutional right and that every voice should be heard.

Genuine question…how does the left square this hypocrisy? If someone on the right concedes that it it IS your right to vote, would you concede that the rights on guns and gun ownership should not be infringed?

Retarded analogy tbh. There is debate to be had regarding which policies are actually effective vs. which are not (hint: it's not that black and white). Guns are just outright designed to kill things. Very few people should be owning guns in today's society. Far too much mental illness that isn't as easy to fix as simply saying "get help"

Which do you think would be a more effective strategy in terms of saving lives…focusing on mental illness or placing restrictions on guns? I realize youcando both…but which would have the greatest impact in terms of saving lives?

I don’t think that’ll really ever happen in my lifetime. I’m thinking more about incremental policies that reduce semi auto capacity’s, magazines, bump stocks etc…with the ultimate goal of following the European model.
