Mirin, how long were you drinking before your liver went bad?
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

Are you the fella who was saying he had stage 4 liver failure? How is your health now, pretty good?

Good on ya at 7 months. Word of advice from a guy who just passed 13 months not long ago, the amount benchmarks worth bragging about are fewer than you'll want to think in terms of how others perceive it. Wait for your 1 year to celebrate again, especially to people IRL.

This is a legit accomplishment.

Gjdm.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

It went bad years before it went BAD. Drank too much for over 10 years. Crazy to think about it now.

Health is great now as far as I’m aware. Feel amazing.

I haven’t celebrated at all IRL. My family actually hasn’t even acknowledged it nor do they bring it up other than to ask about my health.

Congrats bruh.

What did you find helped you in the early stages when I assume the cravings were at their peak?

Would love nothing more than to cut out alcohol but i've associated so many things with it over the past decade my willpower hasn't been up to par to be able to continue after a few days.

Wanting to live and not go through hospitalization and the agony/misery/pain/discomfort/dread/fear/weakness and helplessness I felt during that time, ever again.

Also Gabapentin probably helps a little bit

It's good that you seem to have recognized fairly early on that your family/friends aren't really gonna give a shiiiit about your sobriety and that it's really more to do with just yourself. It took me a minute to fully accept it when I realized that the people in my life who gave me the most crap for drinking when I was still drinking were never gonna do so much as a simple "Oh gee, good job dude!" or something unprovoked. In the end, no one really gives a shiiiit except for you, but also remember that you are plenty reason enough to stay sober regardless.
