Haven't played since SSF4. Maybe it's time to get back into fighting games not called Smash Bros.

How do SF character models get uglier with every new version?

Will be buying day 1 like I do with all SF. Hope I click more with this one than SF5 which I could never get into

SFV was too barebones on release. Capcom took the same approach nintendo did with smash bros ultimate and loaded it with content on release. That and the drive impact mechanics make the game incredibly interesting each round

Have never really gotten into fighting games as much. Can anyone who is into them enlighten me about what you find fun or challenging besides learning move sets?

Why do the graphics somehow keep getting worse?

I'm skeptical, but will maybe try SF again for the first time in a loooong time.

Matchmaking at launch was also a disaster. I remember coming from SF4's lobby system where you could join matches instantly to waiting 10 minutes for a match in SF5.

It's like playing chess in a way. Every character has pros/cons, you make reads based on your opponents, can have offensive/defensive playstyles. It's like asking why people like any other sport, it's just fun and competitive.

Yeah I was 3500pp in SF4, skipped 5 because it was trash. I think the drive system in this looks ok, but the models in this look really janky. That was something else that turned me off in SF5, all the animations were too stiff, especially since 90% of neutral in that game when I played was just fishing for crush counters.

It's the peak form of videogame 1 on 1 competition. Nothing else comes close.

All that team vs team MOBA and DOTA and FPS are for pheggets and nerds.

Fighting games are where the real ****** congregate.

Lol @ still rushing to jump on the video games journalism hype train in 2023.

When they have the "Ultra Super Arcade Championship Edition" I might finally give it a go.

There's been some justifiable hype this year. Hogwarts and Zelda lived up to it.

Yeah this is so dumb. Lock characters behind season passes so if you want all the characters you gotta keep paying for them. The only way to ever be good at a fighting game is to play as and against all characters. So think about how much you'll actually be spending on one game. Tekken 7 did this same chit as well.

Really tempted to buy this because Juri hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.

But yeah considering they more than double the roster over the next few years, sadly it only makes sense to buy the "complete edition" or whatever when it goes on sale in about 4 years time.

I don't really understand how you score a fighting game like other games.

10/10 as a fighting game

3/10 as an overall game

Stylistically it’s the worst SF yet, I hate it. But then again I’m old as fuk and Capcom aren’t thinking about me or those who grew up with SF2 as their main audience.

Apparently the #1 audience they were trying to please is video games journalists.

As an old SF2, Alpha, and 3 veteran, SF6 just really doesn't appeal to me. When I played the demo, it seems like they were really going for a different audience while trying to please the competition sweatlords.

A lot of things really. A lot of my complaints about SFV are carried over into this, and nothing they added to the VS fighting made it feel worthwhile to me. I mean at least it's a lot more of a complete title than SFV was when it launched, but that is probably the only thing I can give it credit for. The new solo mode was terrible in the demo, and the fact they have you using a created character just feels weak. Outside of that it's just your typical sweaty competitive online scene, and I pretty much got zero interest in that these days.

I'm sure I might pick it up some day after they sell it with all the DLC for cheap, I learned my lesson with SFV, they said they wouldn't release special editions at first then they flip-flopped on that hard with their Champion Edition. Looking back trying to keep up with the season passes was just a waste of money and I didn't play the game that often.

Might wait for the Ultra Super Championship Edition myself. I'll have time since I'm playing through TOTK, and may grab FF16 after it releases and I watch some YouTube vids on it.

you said a whole lot of nothing lol. How can a fighting game be less "sweaty". They are sweaty in their nature unless you're talking about smash bros where you can use items & stuff

Yeah I mean for me what makes this decision especially easy is how I have pretty much zero desire to rush into this game. I think the fighting game genre really lost a lot of it's appeal last gen, and by now I just have absolutely no desire to rush into these games, especially considering how predatory they have become with all the DLC and season pass nonsense. Heck we just got Guilty Gear Strive and JoJo's All-Star Battle on GamePass fairly recently, and those games have been fun while also reminding me of how I am just not really into this latest generation of fighting games.

You must have missed the part where this is my opinion and not yours. You are free to partake in all the sweaty online gaming competition you desire, just don't expect me to desire that.

I’m just challenging your opinion. What else do you expect from the genre?

The pay pig/dlc stuff I get.

I just want some good solo content like we had in the past, what they're offering now isn't doing it for me. The online sweat scene isn't for me either.
