Finished the campaign tonight at level 43. Pretty good I must say. Cool cutscenes at the end as well. Played as a sorc.

hit level 30 tonight as a rogue,
from Diablo 3 to this is like a totally different game in a great way. i'm loving the random events that happen and even while playing solo you see some people in your instance (map) doing the same exact random event on the map as you, as you help each other out.
people complaining about the mobs leveling up with you, yes you are still more powerful than them even at world tier 2 to be able to handle them very easily. as your character levels up + the gear you can outclass those mobs easily despite being the "same" level.
overall i am impressed with blizzard, the servers (especially after the D3 server issues at launch), and how they handled diablo 4 to be a lot of what everyone actually wanted in diablo.
so far this game is a 9/10 in my book, if only WASD was a thing because my hand finger is getting tired of clicking everywhere and I might just move to controller full time.

Are there any gameplay changes to D4 compared to what was in D2 remastered?
For instance the map only shows you the perimeter boundary? Can't save?
I only played D2 remastered for a very little bit because I hated it on keyboard and mouse.
But want to get engrossed in a game again.

Yeah, safe to say this game has me addicted. The story is great, the gameplay itself is perfection, but some of the unlocks and side chit can feel overwhelming (thankfully some of it is realm-wide unlocks). I'm at level 44 on an arc lash sorc, currently towards the middle/end of Act 3 I think, been on World Tier 2 this whole time. The first 15ish levels felt easy enough. The upper twenties and lower thirties felt pretty damn brutal, began actually dying a lot - began to learn what stats I was looking for in gear, got better about actually playing my build, got some good synergy in the rotation/skills/passives going, and now I feel like a killing machine. Ice armor makes me feel practically invincible. Teleport honestly feels kind of OP, I've skipped some long running by teleporting up a cliff or through walls - plus it does damage and stuns / procs some things for me. Frost nova applies vulnerability and freezes non-bosses. And all of these things are their own "oh chit" button lol. Unstable Currents, combined with frost nova, melts anything on the screen, feels almost cheesy at times. I still die here and there but I never blame the game for it, which makes me feel reassured the gameplay is just that good.
Some of the materials you want for things, like the level 30 healing potion, seem to be difficult to come by unless you Google particular uniques / mob areas to visit... didn't get that unlocked until level 36 srs. I find myself torn between whether to salvage or sell excess gear - got over 2 million gold and even the most expensive things at my level are below 70k gold, so I'm thinking salvaging for materials is better for preparing for end game.
The game has a trade chat, but no one ever uses it... yet at least. For some reason it's off by default btw, gotta go to the "Social" tab in settings to toggle it on.
Currently my favorite game of 2023, possibly to be beat by FFXVI but we'll see. Diablo 4 has 100% replaced my desire for turning the brain off stomping kids in Call of Duty: MW2. That's all I can ask.
No town portal scrolls or identification scrolls, it's all automatic/unlimited now.
End game is nightmare dungeon climbing and allegedly a pinnacle boss beyond the story.
Open world events seamlessly join random players together, causing the difficulty to scale, and for bonus exp to occur. Then they usually disappear whenever they zone out but you could interact/chat/invite them if you want.
Playing with friends is also seamless. Whoever is the party leader, regardless of what quest or act they're on, you just teleport on them and help them out. Everything scales for each person, so a level 20 could probably help out someone who's level 50 in act 4 for example. Apparently this party system enables lots of cheesing stuff though, like spooning legendary gear and chit for low levels that shouldn't get it yet, and boosting. Apparently you can sit in town and get exp from other party members clearing dungeons for you lol.

To get a better roll you gotta actually get it as a drop, or sacrifice (salvage) another legendary which has the one you want. Are there any gameplay changes to D4 compared to what was in D2 remastered?

I've never really.played any games where you look down from above like that
Not sure what it's called
But I love fantasy games ,and the mods seem endless
Could someone explain the character role choices ??

Anyone have a good sorc build? I'm just using a Maxroll leveling arclash/chain lighting build but gets old after a while. I feel like using blizz in D2 lol.

Anyway, Diablo is an ARPG, lore/story/setting are mostly there for flavour, you can't make any meaningful choices storywise or have meaningful interaction with NPCs. There's a story, there are allies and villains and cutscenes but at the end the day the lore's there to pull you in and guide you along.
Focus is on gameplay, especially max level gameplay, it's pretty much the only thing that matters. You kill mobs for xp and loot, your numbers keep going up and as you keep getting more xp and better loot - while also picking your talents/abilities to build your character - you get better and better at killing more mobs which make your numbers go even higher.
And to keep things fairly fresh, we have seasonal gameplay, meaning every 3 or so months a new season starts with new rewards/sets/achievements/leaderboards/transmogs/questlines whatever. Some of your stuff rolls over from the previous season but the basic idea is that you reroll for each season and keep playing for the new stuff. Your character from the previous season stays as it is and you can keep playing them, but they don't have access to current season's features.
And you can do all that while forming groups and playing along with others. Diablo 4 also moved more towards being an MMO so besides encountering other players in the wild and forming parties to play together you can now also form clans, which afaik currently doesn't offer player power/gameplay benefits besides having a group of boyos you can play and chat along with, but I assume there will be some cosmetics/flavour rewards later on.
Now keep in mind this is a VERY watered down summary of the game, there's tons of schit to do and it's definitely designed to keep you hooked. I don't have early access so only have the beta experience but yeah, based on that I'll definitely get my money's worth.

Diablo is a game made for low IQ people that need constant dopamine hits, srs.
Gameplay is average at best but the game is extremely addicting and tricks you with "progession" and loot.

Man, the sound design in this game is absolutely bonkers .... Feels like nice warm butter in my ears.
Might be the best sound design I've played in a game in the longest time. The only other game which compares is TLOU remake /TLOU 2 .... But I think this game is even better than that.

completed gathering of legions event twice yesterday. there were a few high level guys there in their 40's who were also on the map, so it went by fast both times.
edit: found the dungeon for twisting blades aspect. gonna have to clear it, and then i'll be able to use the skill.

What you need to do is kill him in an area where the map is VISIBLE .... You can't kill him out of bounds anywhere .... The darker grey area of the map? yeah dont kill him there and make sure his body isnt anywhere near the darker grey area .... Just make sure he's killed in the regular map area.
I hope that makes sense.
The last area you fight him is pretty small, so it's a little bit tricky, but still doable. I had to do it twice to kill him. Such a weird bug.

Game froze on me while switching to the map. The joys of early access.
Anyways now I'm playing as a necromancer and HO LEE FUK it is a million times more fun than the barbarian. I absolutely love playing with my blood-focused necro & his crew of skellies

I decided to bloatmaxx with a Druid, a class I have never played in any game. Love the 'landslide' spell. Game is fun, no issues logging in and the install was quick. Have fun everyone!! Always bet on bloat.

Feels bad for WW Barbarians though... so much of their stuff got nerfed to the ground.
All this time I thought I'd never play a Necro, then I see all of the minion buffs and I'm considering making that an alt now tbh, srs.

lvl 41 now and ACT 6 - life is getting hard in the way sadly. I am unable to play for anymore that an a few hours. Got most of the important aspects for my rogue.
DLSS 3 + Nvidia Reflex are very nice to see in game. I am hitting a stable 165 everything maxed out at 1440p. Game is installed on an NVME SSD. Ultra quality textures pack installed. Smooth overall but it does stutter when you leave or join a new place.
Thinking of getting this MTX srs
