You forgot a critical one - punk rock. The 90s had some incredible punk/skate punk/pop punk music going on. Dude Ranch, Dookie, Smash, etc. Classic, genre-defining stuff. I was really into punk as a kid and then the nu-metal stuff like Limp Bizkit and Korn. That eventually dovetailed into actuallygoodmetal like 80s era thrash metal, then progressive metal, progressive rock, and many, many other styles.

I'll never forget in middle school one morning, a buddy of mine had me listen to White Zombie. That fundamentally changed my taste in music.

I seem to remember I wasn't paying much attention to music in the early 2000s. Everything seemed to have gone to schit.

Hard to pick one track but as a kid, I think the first album I ever bought myself with my pocket change was Significant Other on cassette tape. I remember listening to it in my room on my walkman with earphones thinking I was a hard little kunt cuz there was cussing in the lyrics.

In my teens I was into metal (Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera), but as far as music of the period, I listened to Korn and Fear Factory

I saw Fear Factory at Ozzfest in'95. Before that, all I knew was from that Mortal Kombat movie in the 90s. Great band.

Nah their first couple CDs were honestly some of the best albums out there. They went the ph aggy route eventually but. But Hybrid Theory and Meteora were GOAT. The mash up they did with Jay Z was also pretty good.

Meteora was tits as a kid. I was listening to a song from it the other day and forgot how good it was for the time.

Add that to my list of punk rock above although this came a bit after. I transitioned out of light summery pop punk a la blink 182, green day, and sum 41 to more 'hardcore' punk like old AFI, pennywise, and stuff like that in my very early teens, then transitioned into metal and became your typical 'metalhead' later in high school along with all my buddies. Was like the 80s in my school. Long hair, faded jeans, black band shirt, shotgunning beers, playing pantera at the school talent show with my band, getting into trouble, smoking weed once in a while. Lots of fun.
