Guys who live in a house alone, do you lock your bedroom door when you sleep?

I got my own house and live alone. My dad said I should lock my bedroom door and have my pistol next to me when I sleep.

Do yall agree with that or do yall do that? I'm used to living a complete bachelor life, sometimes I'll sleep on my couch for a whole week straight or just come home from work one day and sleep on my bed from 5pm to 5am.

Should I be prepping better by sleeping in my bedroom, locking the door, and always keeping the pistol and my night stand?

why would you?

1) The house is locked
2) No one is after you man, you're not that important

is your house kitted out with motion sensor alarms?

you could turn that on while you sleep if ther eisn't a sensor in the bedroom. better yet, get yourself a doggo for companionship and a bit of security

I dont do that and it never crossed my mind until my dad mention it. Just asking cos been living on my own since I was 20 years old so IDK if it's the norm to lock your bedroom door.

no I dot lock the bedroom door but I do close it.

I get the feeling a ghost or something is looking at me in the middle of the night if I dont and closing the door seems to prevent that somehow.

I leave my bedroom door open but lock the doors to the house and turn on my alarm system. I usually close first floor windows at night but not always.

My bedroom door doesn't have a lock, otherwise I might do it (I live in a pretty ghettoish city). Hell sometimes I go to bed without locking the front door.

I don't have a gun either so...I'm definitely not engaging in best practices.
