this 58yo dude was a regular distance runner (50+ miles a week). stopped running and started sprinting for 2 months and lost a chit ton of visceral and subcutaneous fat while gaining significant muscle. this is a cross section of his abdomen

I made a thread 3 weeks ago about sprinting for the first time in 15 years. My abs, traps, and back were sore as fck. As well as my calves.
I have a ban bet to lose 20lbs in 10 weeks and be 165lbs. Ill be there with sprintmaxxing and bicylcemaxxing

Could be that sprinting burns less calories than long distance running so whatever he was eating finally was enough to let him put on muscle.
Also, sprinters have some of the most jacked physiques I've seen.

Water is wet.
Sprinting or any type of HITT is going to put on more muscle. Activating and growing the fast twitch fibers for volume.

I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.

Do HIIT on elliptical or outside on a track after every lifting session crew
Takes very little time and works awesome to keep the bloatmaxx off and cardio performance up

When I did long sprinting in high school and college (400m and 800m events) I was effortlessly fit. Didn't even really lift weights that much and was still strong. Ate whatever

you mean to tell me if you do an exercise you're not used to that burns a lot of calories, you'll lose fat and gain lean tissue relevant to that new exercise?

Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1
OHP: 250x2
Weight: 180 lbs.
Don't have heroes; look up to no one. Because as long as someone's leading the way, the best you'll ever be is second.

pheggets here think I'm trolling when I chit on squat and tell them to sprint instead.
Sprinting is the goat lower body/leg/athletic performance exercise. You'll get lean, dense, aesthetic legs vs the stubby fat powerchitter legs from lifting weights. Your legs were meant for sprinting/running. Squat is completely unnatural and fukks your chit up.

What's a good sprinting routine? Needs a lot of warming up I'd imagine.

I alternate between a few miles at a lower pace on my echo bike, or a session of HIIT after my workouts.
HIIT feels better, but I don’t always have the energy after a hard workout, and don’t want to sell myself short by not being able to go balls to walls so a few miles of light cardio it is.

I like loaded carry sprints, especially front carries like sandbags

What OP didn't mention is that HITT can help your mitochondria which may be part of the mechanism for the reduction in visceral fat.
Plus it just plain feels good when you have fit legs.

you look at MTBers vs Road bikers and its the same. MTBers are naturally jacked and roadcels are little twinks
