Why does youtube have 10'000 employees when xvids has less than 50?

Youtube makes WAY more money. Has way more viewers, and way more upkeep. There isn't a warehouse full of people censoring people. It's an algorithm. Don't say dumb ****, you won't get censored. Just like Twitter.

I’m guessing a solid 1000 of the YouTube employees have been revolutionizing online video infrastructure/compression/efficiency/etc/etc that the rest of the internet has benefited from for the last 20 years and counting

outside of the non-tech operations, I'm sure youtube runs very much like a media company. They do push, and develope some media, foster and groom talent that drives heavy traffic to their site, and probably more importantly handle the business dealings and negotiations with advertisers. Elon, as many hav pointed out there is sitll over 50% waste.
