Spent all morning crying thinking about how I missed real estate wealth
I've been hearing a lot of stories of people who bought a place and now it has appreciated $150K+ and their net worth is approaching a million already from that. Prices were also much cheaper when they bought and interest rates were low pre-covid.
I own 2 properties but they are 1 bedroom condos and I guess the location didn't skyrocket like other cities so values barely went up. I don't live in them as they are in other cities.
I wasn't ready to buy a principal residence (looking for a 2 or 3bd SFH or townhome) back in 2019 or earlier. Now I'm much more ready now in 2023 but prices have already skyrocketed so not much upside left and interest rates are near 7%. I missed out on getting in earlier and the huge property appreciation seen over the past few years particularly.
I'm a rentcel and spent all morning crying

But I bought those particular condos for long-term holds in cities that I like and will be using them later in my life

Could have been worse. You could have done real estate investing by buying timeshares.
