Hopefully they figure out a way to achieve 40vrr or even 60 in the time up to release.

I mean as of now sure yeah it's an Xbox game, but pc players are the real winners here. I'm thinking I might have to get an oled ultrawide monitor before this game drops. Dogfighting and space flying needs that extra screen real estate, 16:9 and gunna cut it.

I feel like there should at least be 30fps unlocked tho because I imagine being in space with alot less stuff rendering will be easier on the fps? Maybe not.

Wow been seeing some online thinking fable and hellblade were just cgi. But the showcase and devs say otherwise. Guess that’s a good sign for the visuals lol

At the very least hopefully the “muh Forza halo gears” narrative finally dies. It should have already with 75% of first party this gen not being one of those franchises

So games I’m hyped for:

All first party:
-Starfield
-Forza Motorsport
-fable
-towerborne
-south of midnight
-flight sim 2024
-avowed
-clockwork revolution
-Hellblade 2
-sea of thieves legend of monkey island

Third party:
-persona 3
-33 immortals
-path of the goddess
-Jusant
-Dungeons of Hinterberg
-Cities: Skylines 2
-mayyybe payday 3, never played any of them

Everything I got out of the Hellblade 2 video:

I happened to be wearing headphones at the time and while I get what they were going for with the whole "3D audio/voices" psychosis simulator thing, it was more grating than anything immersive.

What exactly would the online thinking mean by "cgi," though? Game enginesthemselvesare so advanced now that they really don't have to do the ol' "cgi trailer" anymore since the engine is capable enough, but that doesn't mean that the game itself will be nearly as detailed or run as well.

When you think about it that way, clearly marked as actual, real-time gameplay is practicallymoreimportant now than ever before since you could at least tell that a fake cgi trailer was impossible for past hardware to produce. And even then, that real-time gameplay can always be a vertical slice or be running on some ultra-expensive, finely tuned dev machine from the future.
I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
My dark grave awaits, my fate is revealed - But I'm not afraid to die

If you have any problems or need advice, feel free to ask

Have you played the first hellblade? Same kind of thing, girl has psychosis. I can see it wouldn’t be for everyone

By cgi I mean cgi trailers. Not “in engine” or “in game”. In game means real time. In engine is pre rendered but using the games engine

Like these are cgi:

They weren’t even “in engine”, which is better telling of the actual game than cgi, but still not realistic of the game. Like the Spider-Man 2 trailer a couple years ago

The hellblade snippet gameplay was really just a bit of walking but it was in game on a series x. And fable also said in game and a dev said it was gameplay on a series x. I posted a gif’s on post 167 and looks like gameplay:https://imgur.io/y9GETrW

I played hell blade on my oled with a 5.1.4 dolby atmos and it was one of the most excellent audio experiences in gaming. It was the only reason I played it on the Xbox since my pc isn't on the same audio setup. It was actually worth suffering through 30 fps for the audio

I didn't like Hellblade 1 at all ... Played with headphones on the PS5. Was extremely meh .... Xcels love to give sony games chit for being 2deep4u walking simulators ... And this game embodied everything about a 2deep4u walking simulator. Hardly any of this so called "gameplay", annoying puzzles, lame combat, boring story with the 2deep4u schizo theme.

I'm actually legit surprised any xcel would be hyped for this game and if they are, they're hypocrites. Imagine trying to chit on a sony game while simultaneously being hyped for this.

Still interested to see how this game develops though, if they can bring in more changes to the combat and get rid of those damned visual puzzles I'll probably be more keen for it.

The tech for the original hellblade wasn't originally supposed to be a game if memory serves. I'm going from memory so someone feel free to correct me, but I think NT was actually developing tech for researchers to get a glimpse of how intrusive in depth schizophrenia and MPD can be and they morphed it into a game at a later stage. It was meant to be very disorienting, especially so if you played with headphones with directional audio as the voices would be all around you and whisper stuff like "behind you" when an enemy wasn't there just to throw you off. It was a cool concept, but even the original hellblade felt a little long for that kind of tech.

I'm hoping if they add length to Hellblade 2 (which they likely have) they tone that down a little. ******ce is cool and all, but I generally play games to have fun, not get annoyed.

Yeah it played more like a tech demo than a true video game. It was really more of an experience.

The "combat" was like 2 buttons. This was Def a "movie game".

I thought the audio experience was crazy, some of the best directional sound in any game.

Hellblade isn't about gameplay, it's about story and experience, way closer to a walking sim than Boxcels like to claim other Sony games are. But I absolutely loved it, sound and overall atmosphere was brilliant, thought it was very well done for the tiny experience low priced game that is was. Hellblade 2 will probably be the first thing to make me think I need to buy an Xbox this gen, if it is reviewing very well.

Why is the fact that it’s coming to Xbox strange?

As of middle of 2018, it’s an Xbox IP

Keanu confirmed playing doc dark in the new Xbox movie

Why would a long haired white guy play a bald black guy you might wonder, but you wouldn't understand, because of the levels to this.

MSFS presentation at FlightSimExpo, highlighting new features w.r.t. key focus aspects and growth of the game.
-Asobo has grown quite a lot
-Allowing players to choose a pilot lifestyle, with a very grounded simulation enviroment; "We're not a game, so we're not making gamey-type missions at all, we're doing this accurate aviation activities. Working with many organizations that do Fire-fighting, that do search and rescue""

Reduced footpring on HDD & internet usage

Reduced installation & loading times
This helps keep the min spec low

Backwards compatible, community folder still there

New physics & Aerodynamics Engine

Give aircraft creaters EXTREMEEEE control

Massive performance improvements: the engine has been rewritten for performance improvements, Multithreading, thus on a different core away from the main (frame). (So it looks like they removed the deadlocking bottlenecks in the engine and thus can decouple and parallelize it over multiple threads, big! The examples they show are big, the simulation fidelity just keeps going to a higher ceiling ).

Rigid & Soft bodies (e.g. some examples shown w.r.t. Balloon physics).

New & improved systems
Electrical, pneumatic, fuel, hydraulic systems
Failure and Wear & tear system
Payload & passenger system
Deeper & wider avionics packages

Cockpit tablet by default

Digital Twin (You're going to hear this term in the gaming industry a lot more in the coming years)

Example shown for low altitude training; Showing more accurate surfaces detected through ML.
Adding more details such as 3D trees, 3D rocks with proper surface details/detail map and tessellation (so no flat enviroments hehe)

Our planet - static world: Improved ground details, 3D tesselated ground materials, enhance tree diversity, improved cliffs

Our planet - dyanmic world: Full seasons, Aurora borealis, tornados, storms

Our planet - living world: animal herds & migrations, worldwide ship traffic, accurate live air traffic, improved vehicle traffic

Hopefully in later patches or when the series X-1X comes they can bump it to 60 lmao.
Tried Elden Ring @30 last night and just couldn't do it, especially during combat with the input delay. It feels like your character doing his move or reacting to a move happens twice as slowly between the input and visual lag. I can't go back to that.

Guess I'll just have to alternate days playing Starfield and Horizon 3: Nemesis on my nerd tower next gen. Seems like Scram was right and 30fps is back on the menu for consolecels lol it's over.

I just hope porting is better for the next gen and I don't have to spend an hour trying to get most games to launch on PC

With Sony and MS putting everything on pc nowadays, I may also become a pccel in a few years. And whatever Nintendo has.

Seems like upgrading a rig a couple years after consoles launch, then again maybe 4 years later would be a good way to upgrade. Assuming 8 year long console generations that’d be upgrading every 4 years

Yeah I think we both agree it SEEMS right now the best option may be to wait until PS6 and build a strong PC when cross gen games with PS5 stops and development for the next gen begins...so about 2 years after launch. Things could change if they go back to exclusives but if not then that might be the way for the best of both worlds if one can afford.

Also, depending on how good your initial build is, I don't even think you'll really need to upgrade every 4 years. Maybe just your GPU if you want, but that initial build will far outperform the PS6.

Soon everything will be just a timed exclusive and owning certain console would be almost irrelevant (except for nintendo), if profits are mainly in software I wish they released more powerful $800-1000 consoles even if they sold less, in the end you'll also get exclusives on PC and who knows maybe even the other competitor console

I have a fairly expensive pc I don't even use for games. The weakest part is the GPU which is a 3060 and I use it for work/editing but I could easily get a 4090 and have a top gaming machine.

If they keep releasing everything on pc, I don't mind waiting for timed exclusives. My HUGE issue is ease of use. I love that on console I just press the PS button, everything comes on and I just choose my game and start playing. Wish there was a way to streamline the PC/steam experience so I could play PC games on my TV easily like that. And don't even get me started on troubleshooting games that don't launch which means you gotta have your mouse and keyboard ready so you can go to forums to search for hours....on your TV. Lol

Also, depending on how good your initial build is, I don't even think you'll really need to upgrade every 4 years. Maybe just your GPU if you want, but that initial build will far outperform the PS6.
Yea that makes sense, one of the 4 year upgrades could just be GPU

Consoles being streamlined is nice. And the pc troubleshooting would suck. Also quick resume is amazing.

But I’ll still consider. Luckily have a few years to decide. Will just enjoy being a consolecel until then

PC troubleshooting is almost non-existent if you just buy good parts.

Idk about that man, there's still so much complaining on pc threads about muh graphical glitches and shader compilation, throttling for no apparent reason, random updates that break things etc. Point I'm making is the beauty of the console is they're all made the same with the same parts that are guaranteed to work together. Because of that it will always be a more streamlined experience.

Lots of people who have both say the same thing. I have a great PC, @obmas does too and we both just prefer jumping on the couch and launching on console to get right into the game.

Each platform has pros and cons but it seems being able to play all Sony and MS games on one platform is a huge W for PC.

I dont want any nuisances, give me a $800-1000 console any day, with optimization probably games may look close to the highest setting PCs

I think the problem with a pro console is that devs would just use it as an excuse to get even lazier. They'll throw in more details, particles, systems etc and optimize even less because they know the brute power of the pro consoles will carry them.

Current consoles are perfectly strong as is, there's no reason every new game can't come out with an amazing 60fps while still looking fantastic.

Only way this changes imo is if more and more gamers complain and make it clear that 60fps should now be the standard.
