If the democrats have their way, yes. Their goal is to have a 3'rd world country their leadership can easily control where they have all the power and wreath for themselves and everyone else is poor, powerless, and dependent upon them.

the entire political system needs to be torn down, reimagined, and rebuilt.
but yes OP, water is wet. middle class has been dead, and was dying for the last 30 years. look at the increase of wages vs productivity since the ~1970's. the overlords essentially pay the common man the same as they did 45 years ago, despite record productivity and profit. and you won't do chit about it.

also, the rich are supposed to get richer - it takes money to make money, so of course if you have money it is much easier to make more and I wouldn't want it any other way

I regret spending so much time trying to work hard. I should have just coasted in life and tried to keep my 2020 virgin ex. Oh well, spilt milk, you live you learn. Perhaps the only way to learn anyway is the hard way.

Millennials because the 08 economic crisis hit right as they were graduating HS and entering the workforce, and zoomers because of present times.
Basically both generations never really had any decent opportunity compared to past generations. Boomers and Gen X'ers basically looted the economy.

It feels over. I know personally I’ll never be able to achieve homeownership or afford to raise children. The opportunities are so far out of reach and with inflation outpacing wage growth, it’s become exceedingly difficult to become upwardly mobile in America.
I know personally, my income has literally doubled since 2018, however my quality of life is essentially the same, if not worse, because for example, my rent has increased 2.5x in that same time period. Food prices have gone up exponentially. Fuel prices and utilities likewise. Inflation nuked my buying power and knocked me back into my late teens/early 20s in terms of personal wealth.
For most families, their middle class lifestyle is simply an illusion. They own nothing, charge everything and the borrower is slave to the lender. Wage slavery and perpetual debt are the new norm. I see no positive changes on the horizon. If anything it will get way worse.

The lifestyle that was thought of as middle class in the US based on the broadly shared prosperity of the '50s and '60s is now maintained by a much smaller segment of the population.
- mainly single earner households [40 to 60 hours paid labor/50 weeks a year?]
- median home price around 2X annual income
- new vehicles around .5X annual income or less
- medical expenses and secondary education eating up much less of a percentage of income
- majority of large employers provided a fixed benefit pension program
The median home price now is hovering around $450K. But just to pander to the crew who always shows up saying "but now houses are bigger and fancier", let's go with a home price of $300K.
Using the old school affordability metric of a house purchase not exceeding 2.1X annual income to afford a home priced at $300K our 2023 updated middle class lifestyle would be:
A household with an annual income of $143,000 a year earned from 2000 to 3000 hours of paid labor. That equates to an hourly pay rate of roughly $42 to $72.00 per hour.
From 2017 that would put you in the top 10% of wage earners for the US.
- 90th percentile $43.86
- 95th percentile $57.86
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/02/how-...-per-hour.html
^^^
This is the state of the former middle class IMO. Only the top 10% - 15% can approach the quality of life that was enjoyed by the Boomers in their youth. Probably the richest large population ever.

Effectively, $60k - $75k ain't much, but when you add the wife bringing in another $60k, then things get good.
If you want house and children this day and age you need dual incomes.

Time for me to post my favorite graph ever again.

If you are a wagie, your income has followed the economy's growth since 1995. (the only way I could improve this graph is with a line for 1995-2020 wages).
If you're an asset owner, your stocks and houses have tracked the money supply growth since 1995. And especially since 2010.
Asset prices have decoupled from the actual economy. Stocks don't actually track earnings or business fundamentals any more, they track the Fed.
The real wonder is how the government was able to throw $5 trillion money printer dollars into a stagnant economy from 2009-2019 with no leak-through to consumers. It's like CPI was firewalled off from asset prices, and every dollar they added just went straight to the 1%'s stocks.
But that dam broke in 2020, and now we are seeing massive consumer inflation that far outruns economic growth and wage growth. In the 2010s, wagies were running in place while asset owners rode a monetary-inflation rocket. Now, wagies are quickly falling behind.

LOVE when TechLead goes full blackpill...
If even TechLead tells you that hard work is bullsh/t, you know sh/t is getting real.
I've been saying it for the longest time: the "work harder" scam is the most detrimental scam pushed onto men. Hard work has diminishing returns and you'll only burn yourself out making your employer richer.
The most value personality traits are cunning, ruthlessness, and self-interest (for yourself and your family)... the most valuable job skill is salesmanship. And when I say "salesmanshp" I mean selling yourself into the highest possible job while doing the absolute bare minimum work.
Wake the f/ck up you buffoonish plebs, stop working so damn hard.
