I honestly think there's something to the democrat's big push for abortions, crime, and degradation in places with large black populations. I mean it's no secret how they're the party that fought to keep slavery around that has been pissed at republicans ever since they took their slaves away from them. I can't do jack because the government is shut down today. It's literally a normal day for everyone who isn't Black or African American or in Texas. This "holiday" was just for Texas and celebrated locally and now somehow has become a Federally recognized holiday. Well, in that case, best add every other state when they finally ended slavery because otherwise, what's the point? My understanding is it's to mark the day that Texas officially ended the practice. So why not every other state that ended it? Why is a Texas holiday becoming a nationally recognized one?

Deriving its name from combining June and nineteenth, it is celebrated on the anniversary of the order by Major General Gordon Granger proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas on June 19, 1865.

Yeah, keep it in Texas. The rest of the country still wants to function.

It's a holiday. The only benefit any holiday has is to celebrate something, and maybe have a day off or get paid time and a half.

No one is forced to participate, but anyone can. And just for black people? You can't claim to love our freedom, but get mad at a day when the last slaves finally got theirs. It's a celebration of our country maturing, and truly embracing freedom for everyone, but you have to be a kunt just because you don't want to hear about black people for whatever reason.

If you want to be a bigoted kunt, you are free to do so, but getting legit upset at a day that's about freedom makes you a chitty ass representation of an American imo.

It's not the end of slavery. It's the end of slavery in GALVESTON, TX. The Emancipation Proclamation explicitly only applied to the Confederacy. Slavery still existed in Union states like Delaware.
