Got hit by a car when I was going 25mph on my road bike. Lady just pulled out right infront of me, hit the hood and went over. The top tube on the bike broke in half and sliced through my thigh, luckily missed the artery. Also I was wearing a helmet so only mental damage is miscing for 14 years. Happened a month ago, feel lucky to be alive.

What's yours?

Completely healed or still suffer from time to time?

P.S. If you have serious ones I'm sorry and wish you get well soon. *bow*
Broke my scaphoid in my wrist and went to a **** doctor. Happened when I was 16 wrist never healed right. I've learned to live with it but dam it feels like I was never to reach full potential on bench. Also played basketball pretty much everyday had to stop due to pain. I've gone to a specialist who suggested fusion surgery but Im waiting down the line. Pain isnt severe but when it gets cold fuark.

Good morning misc, thanks for posting. I'm sorry for you guyz for whom "a good morning" means less pain than yesterday.

I have read all the posts here and realized I'm a very lucky old man who has never had any major injuries, the kind with constant pain and disability still years after they happened.

Take care brothers. *bow*

It was an onset flare up from a back injury I obtained years ago. Usually it's not a thing but because of the bad conditions at the quarantine facility I had to sit in very unergonomic pure metal chairs. My back locked up to the point where I couldn't move without excruciating pain. Literally immobilizing.

Everytime I tried to move, walk, even crawl, it was like a scalpel slicing into the nerves of my back. Utterly excruciating and constant, and painkillers did nothing. Rendered me unable to use the toilet properly, dressing took 100x longer than usual....just awful and a dehumanizing experience.

I remember splitting my head open and almost drowning in blood and it was nowhere near as bad as that.
Pain and frustration you had experienced (hope it's not a recurring one), I couldn't imagine. Thanks for sharing as always. *bow*

My back relapses every couple years and it takes me a week to get my back straight again. All the doctor prescribed me was some muscle relaxing drugs and high strength Ibuprofen.
I blew my right glute, pain started the next morning after deadlifting with a weight, which is nothing you young people consider "heavy." After that, I am never able to do any sprints. Slow jog and walking is the best I could do right now. With this recurring hamstring tears, probably walking might be the better choice from now on. *sigh*

I tear one of my abs while doing heavy chin-ups and it did not heal well and my abs look like "a dented corn kernel"

Worst chronic injury is my herniated discs.
Sorry about your grandfather. *bow*

That's terrible and I feel lucky because I am not you. (J/K)

My old friend, the family's important but in your case, don't forget to take care of yourself.

Been there, though mine was a road bike and the injuries were not that bad. I fell and somersaulted forward because of the aerodynamic effects caused by a truck passing by too close and an evil stone just lying and waiting there for that very moment. Fortunately, I wore a backpack that protected me from the impact. *sigh of relief*

Safe riding brother. *bow*

That was despite the fact that both vehicles were beyond totalled by any insurance standards, and the pickup he had was a really nice rental that was less than a year old yet.

Except the impact caused a prosthetic ear drum I had recently had worked on surgically, and was still recovering from, become dislodged. Normally my doctor didn't even care if I played football and such as it pertained to my ear health, but he was pretty clear I didn't want to be getting my bell rung at all within a month of a surgery like that. Well that's exactly what happened thanks to that damn auto accident, and it jacked up my hearing in that ear for life.
I lost temporaly my hearing once and the experience almost killed me, I mean almost made me go crazy.

Sorry, hope you'll be well someday. *bow*

My mother and I were once hit by a car at a bus stop waiting for the next one for her. She was helping us move to the new house when my wife and I had just gotten married.

I survived without a scratch but my mother wasn't so lucky, hospitalized for the next six months. I thought she was dying at the time.

It was 35 years ago. I still can't stand at the edge of the crossroad, I still just can't, must be PTSD or something.

This is by far the worst experience I've ever encountered, and I will be down for an estimated 6 more months.

My friends have brought workout equipment to my house and my wife is going to help me train upper body until I can get back on my feet. This truly sucks!!
Not as hard as your situation, but I seriously thought that I might need my wife's help to set up my training equipment every time I train.

Luckily as it turned out, I could do it alone even with my torn hamstring. *sigh of relief*

I've heard the condition, rhabdo, damaged skeletal muscle breaks down/necrosis, often as the result of a crush injury or strenuous exercise but never it actually happened to my friends.

I hope it was a long time ago and you are OK now.

I think it was a herniated disc. it was phucked up because as I was deadlifting a weight up I sneezed and lost all bracing then kinda immediately felt this all around soreness.

the next day was phucked, took me 5 minutes to get out of bed, 10 minutes to get dressed, couldn't bend down to tie my shoe. my back would randomly seize up just rendering me immobilized. I worked an office job and it hurt to sit down.

back injuries suck man, but now I think I'm okay. I worked alot on making it stronger through back extensions and training back flexion.

ran into a barbed wire fence riding a dirtbike. Leg hit one of the wooden stumps holding the fence up, instant compound facture. Was looking at my tibia (shine bone) completely broken and bouncing up and down throughout all the blood. Had a few chunks of flesh next sitting next to me from my leg and my neck was caught in barb wire, came pretty close to the julgular vein according to the doc. Looks like a tiger scratched me across my neck/throat area now

The worst part is that I'm not even the one who actually fell, I was following someone too closely and he fell and so I bailed. The guy who actually fell had some road rash and that was it.
I ride a road bike and I once have seen such an accident occur to my friends. Fortunately I was well ahead of them so I was safe. You are young, someday it may heal completely, I wish it will be your case. *bow*

The funny thing is (though actually not funny at all), that lifting-weight-related injuries tend to happen when we are on a roll and try to do it one more rep. Well at least, that's my experience.

And I often wonder what if I didn't...LOL, well it is no use crying over spilt milk, so these days, I accept and do my best I could afterward.

Hope, you are doing alright these days, my old friend.

Hernia and torn ACL were mentioned many times ITT and heard in RL too.

What sucks most about injuries is not only the pain but the aftereffects from the injuries and the new reality we must face. At my age, friends disappear one by one, because of illness or injuries. A simple fall might make me bedridden. When that happens (I mean illness and injuries, not bedridden), hope is the only thing that enables us to accept that new reality, move on, and with luck better ourselves.

Train safe, eat healthy and look left and right before crossing the road.

P.S.Today is my day off, so I walk, hopefully more than 3 miles in 1.5 h.

Yes, I hear always the sound ofa popping soundwhen I re-tear my right hamstring.

Then I scream in my mind, "Not, again!" You know it immediately because you can't move...

I know you can get surgery for it, but from the research I've found it essentially heals in the same time frame with or without surgery.

I can walk on my heel just fine like a retard, but can't actually take a step.

Very weird feeling telling your body to move and it not listen.
I don't see doctors, but someday I may have to... hospital is the scariest place, especially now.

Went to ER and took em awhile to determine it was a spider bite
Once they did tho they immediately gave me a ton of local anesthesia and took essentially a miniature ice cream scooper and began to remove the entire infected area. Just shoveled out the muscle and tissue around my shin bone

Packed the hole with medicated gauze that had to be changed out daily all the while praying it didn't spread to the bone and didn't get infected either
For a month or so could have easily rolled a ping pong ball around inside the wound. Horrid smell when unbandaged as well

Full recovery tho, 25+ years later its pretty much unnoticeable unless I point it out on my leg
I've just watched "Spider-Man: No Way Home" I loved it. Sorry to hear your experience. Can't imagine, we don't have many and they seldom bite people here in Japan.

Now, use ssb box squats, trap bar, and bench with bench blockz hoping to avoid injury and promote longevity.
I'd been suffering from sciatica myself. One time, I couldn't cross the street in time. It's eventually gone when I become 60. I still don't know why. I started riding a road bike and doing LSD (Long Slow Distance, jog) in the late 90s. Maybe it worked, slowly but steadily.

---------------

Yesterday I walked 4 miles in 130 mins, far better than I expected.

Again I'll do it today after w/o, purely as a rehab.

Can't imagine what you went through, sorry.

After the doctor found out what caused you the pain, what was your reaction to the news?

I mean, was it something you expected, or better or worse than what you expected?

Blew my knee out during a sneeze (Bizarre right?), and dropped an extra-long heavy duty floor jack vertically onto my foot, where a 2" x 2" contact point on the bottom hit my foot first with the full weight of the jack on it. I'm sure the sneeze blew my lcl and I'm sure my foot was kind of shattered a bit from the floor jack but I never went to the dr and am still dealing with knee pain now 12-13 years later (Blew it out two other times afterwards playing golf as well, the 2nd time i passed out on the way down and think i broke my forearm landing on the club). The absolute worst pain ever for me. Also got alopecia areata shortly after and I think the injuries played a large part in that.

Not a sports-related injury, but here we go:

Was grinding a piece of steel with a handheld grinder, received a phone call so I temporarily took off my safety goggles. Phone call ends, I forget to put my safety goggles back on, continued grinding and a very small piece of steel, maybe the size of 2-3 grains of sand, flew into my eye.

At the time, I had no idea what had happened, it just felt like a gust of wind going in my eyes, no immediate symptoms. Next day my left eye was teary, I thought nothing of it. Day after that it was even more teary, I thought I had conjunctivitis. I buy antibiotic eyedrops and proceed to use them for the next 10 days. Eye is still progressively getting worse, to the point where it's uncomfortable to be in sunlight and I'm waking up every morning with my eye just continuously watering. I still thought I had conjunctivitis.

After 2 weeks of walking around with a piece of steel lodged in my iris and unsuccessfully trying to cure my "conjunctivitis", I coincidentally watch a video about eye safety when working with power tools. It finally hits me. I go to the bathroom mirror and light up my eye with a flashlight and I can see a black speck about 1mm to the left of my pupil.

I immediately go to the emergency department of an eye hospital near my house and they took it out using a needle (with local anesthetic). Because the piece of steel had been in there for 2 weeks, it had started to rust, so they had to use a tiny drill to clean out the cavity the piece of steel had left. I still have a scar on my iris, but my vision was completely unaffected thanks to the fact that the steel hadn't lodged in my pupil.

Also, ironically, I didn't get an infection because I had used the conjunctivitis antibiotic eyedrops for 10 days.

Make sure you're always wearing safety goggles when working with power tools.

Shoulders have been fuked for 2 years. It started off just being my left shoulder, then my right started to become a problem. Been to countless physios, some of them were able to help my shoulders, but only temporarily, the pain would return again after a month or two.

Itโ€™s been a year since Iโ€™ve properly lifted. Seeing all the gains you worked so hard for start to slowly diminish is depressing. It is what it is though. I am now seeing a physiotherapist who has been specialising in shoulders for over 13 years.

Fingers crossed he will fix my shoulders. My right shoulder is starting to feel a bit better since going to him. He said that in 6 ish weeks I can start training my upper body lightly again.

I just really wanna be injury free once I return to the gym. Even if that means making โ€œsub-optimal gainsโ€, so fukn be it. Iโ€™m tired of being 20 years old and having the shoulder tendon and bone strength of a 90 year old. Rant over lol.

Don't have any super good stories since I've been pretty lucky so far to never experience any truly serious injuries.

Had a skiing accident a couple months ago on a really bumpy double black and did something to my right hamstring. I'm not sure if it was partially torn or just got slammed into the hard top of a mogul when I fell, but for a few minutes I thought maybe I had broken my leg. After a few minutes I could stand up and put all my weight on it, so I figured I was fine. After a couple of days the entire back of my leg turned black and stayed that way for like two weeks. Doctor said the blood was alarming but that I was probably fine since I had full ROM and no serious pain other than the sort of dull ache when I limped around on it. It feels OK now, but I'm still kind of scared to do a leg day and risk something bad happening. I guess I'll start out really slowly sometime soon and see how it goes.

The weakness in that leg and the slippery hardwood floor in my house also caused me to wipe out really hard heading to my kitchen a couple weeks after the accident. I did something to the ribs on my right side, and they still ache more than a month later. Not sure if a cartilage issue or if I cracked something. Didn't bother going to the doctor for that since I doubt there is anything that can be done except to wait.

Most traumatic medical experience was probably when I was like 12 and got ear infections in both ears while visiting my grandmother. My temperature got up to like 105, so I had to sit in a bathtub full of ice until she could get me to the hospital. They had a couple nurses pin me down on my side while the doctor dug really deep into my ears with a metal scraper to scrape the infection out as much as he could. Hurt a lot.
