๐ What's the worst injury you've ever had? ๐
I've torn my hamstring again and it sucks.
I have a bad shoulder from bench press and a bad elbow from heavy weighted pull-up for the last 40 years or so.
But recurring muscle tears are the worst...especially those of legs (hamstrings).
Especially if you have to pee while sleeping at night.
-----
What's yours?
Completely healed or still suffer from time to time?

P.S. If you have serious ones I'm sorry and wish you get well soon. *bow*

No muscle tears, thank god. I still think night-time calf cramp/seizures are one of the worst things though, the amount of times I've had a dream I'm running or falling off a cliff and I wake up with one leg dangling off the bed, seizing up, is insane. Might be genetic, my brother once had it happen so bad that he could actively see the muscle moving all over the place. The kinda pain that makes you wanna shout but your voice gets snatched from you and just lasts so long.
Next worst is probably spraining my ankle. Nothing quite like your own ligaments/joints failing you and rolling your ankle, hurt like a SOB.
I feel like there's something far worse than either of the above where I've specifically said to myself "this is the worst pain I've ever felt" but I can't bring it to mind. Probably a psychological thing to try forget it!

Funnily enough OP, it was the back injury which led to the infamous and falsely-claimed "chit smearing" incident.
It was an onset flare up from a back injury I obtained years ago. Usually it's not a thing but because of the bad conditions at the quarantine facility I had to sit in very unergonomic pure metal chairs. My back locked up to the point where I couldn't move without excruciating pain. Literally immobilizing.
Everytime I tried to move, walk, even crawl, it was like a scalpel slicing into the nerves of my back. Utterly excruciating and constant, and painkillers did nothing. Rendered me unable to use the toilet properly, dressing took 100x longer than usual....just awful and a dehumanizing experience.
I remember splitting my head open and almost drowning in blood and it was nowhere near as bad as that.

Blew my back out deadlifting about 10 years ago, never fully recovered. My lower back is now made of glass.
For a good 4-6 months following it, I couldn't straighten my back and my body was squint. When I looked in the mirror my belly button was no longer in middle of my body, it was off to the side.
My back relapses every couple years and it takes me a week to get my back straight again. All the doctor prescribed me was some muscle relaxing drugs and high strength Ibuprofen.

And the fifth rule and most important, work your but off.

Must have pulled a muscle benching back in 1994-was hard to breathe for several weeks until it healed. Worst one though was jamming my neck up this year-caused me a rapid heart rate for ages, until it went the last month.

Worst acute injury was a broken jaw and concussion from a bad car accident when I was 12. My grandfather passed away in this accident. I had my jaw wired shut for something like 8 weeks and had to drink all of my meals. The wiring process was also in itself fairly traumatic because they couldn't sedate me for fear I might puke and choke on it, so they numbed my whole mouth with something like 40 to 60 shots (I felt them all) and they had to re-break my jaw to set it.
Worst chronic injury is my herniated discs.

went over the handlebars of my mountain bike, hard enough to crack the top tube of the frame. Strained my neck and fractured my orbital bones

Tore seemingly all the muscle in my back below my shoulder blades from carry schit, literally felt and heard my spine go "POP!!!" at one point and it was goddamn awful. Couldn't be in a moving vehicle at points because any minor bump felt like my spine was being compressed together with no discs inbetween, just had to lay in bed for a week. Even sleeping hurt, if I rolled over or coughed my back was wracked with pain, all from my lats and low traps to spinal erectors.
Definitely the worst thing there is, never take your back health for granted, it's not just something that fails elderly people.

Car accident. My fault. Wasn't paying attention on a back, winding road, and blew a stop sign. Wouldn't you know it, a car was coming through that intersection at that exact moment to perfectly t-bone my driver's side.
I was apparently unconscious for over 5 minutes.
Cracked every rib on my left side.
Collapsed lung.
Ruptured nodes on my spleen.
Honestly a miracle I'm alive.
EDIT: other driver was unharmed

I thought I knew all about pain until about 7 weeks ago when I broke my femur while stretching. I laid in a hospital bed in extreme agony for 30 hours before I could get in for surgery. They say this bone is the strongest bone in your body and nearly impossible to break, but I somehow managed to do it all on my own. This is by far the worst experience I've ever encountered, and I will be down for an estimated 6 more months.
My friends have brought workout equipment to my house and my wife is going to help me train upper body until I can get back on my feet. This truly sucks!!

My rotator cuff. I had to have a surgery that left a 4 inch scar on my shoulder and it ended my college tennis career
