Any landscaper brahs here? Need to know if this is a fair quote for my backyard (pic)

Edit: Damn I'm a dumbass... Forgot to include the quote lmao. It's$3,500for the work listed below.

Work:

-Regrade backyard so its more useable
-Remove any excess grass
-Install 20 yards of topsoil
-Seed and straw entire yard

I don't know chit about landscaping.

Edit #2 additional info: Bought this house 10 months ago. Previous owners were complete slobs. They bought the house in 2011 for $310k and sold it in 2022 for $275k to a flipper (yes, that bad). Flipper fixed it up a bunch, then I bought it from the flipper. Backyard was left pretty much untouched. I paid $2,500 for tree removal as well as did a bunch of work myself to clear chit out. Now looking to get the backyard landscaped so it looks good and is ready for a fence.

LOL not sure how I forgot the most important part. The quote is$3,500for this work:

Id charge $4,000 just to install the dirt, seed, and straw it. Grading should be another $2000-3000 depending on the square foot, if i can get my machine in the back yard, etc.

You really need to put a retaining wall in at the very backside of the yard, which is gonna be way more than 20 yds of topsoil. That job is anywhere from $15,000 to $25,000 depending on if you keep the existing wooden wall in place. Lots of variables. What were you quoted?

3500$ doesn't sound too bad honestly, not at all. I'd just leave it as is and dig up large vegetable and flower gardens (srs). Big ass row of corn with a horsehead scarecrow. It's nice to have woods on the back, isn't it? You can piss outside with total impunity.

Very fair deal from what i see. I've owned a landscape business for quite a few years, and he is doing that grading for very cheap. Make sure that removal of excess grass includes him hauling it off and not just throwing it down the hill into the woods unless you're cool with that.

Btw you don't have to level out the whole yard. Just level the area where you would have your sitting area, grill, or whatever you want to use. You don't need to have the whole yard leveled just the part where you would be sitting or doing any sort of yard activity.

Good price op do it, new irrigation, 2 big ass trees removal, St Augustine grass and a vinyl fence was 21K for a 2000 sq ft backyard

I would suggest making a leveled area close to your sliding door of about 4.5 x4.5 meters. Then leave the natural slope and build a step or two to access the slope part.

Skip the grass and just plant some nice local plants along the edge.

Use the money saved to buy some really nice and big clay or stone planters and place them along the corners of your terrace and plant some citrics on them.

Yeah we were thinking of having it "terraced" or whatever, but if this company can level it out a lot more I'm fine with that too. My wife and I want the yard ready for a fence and safe for kids/pets in the future.

Price seems good but I think the risk would be in what the final product is actually like vs your expectations, purely because it's so cheap

Screened topsoil from my landscaping place is $22/cubic yard, that's $500 right there not including moving it.

$100/hr is a rule of thumb rate we use for labour not including equipment and such

Yea this is almosttoocheap. Sus if you ask me.

20 yards of top soil is gonna cost several hundred dollars alone.

I would get a few more quotes to see if this is inline with what other tradies are charging
