Comfortably? Probably not. You'd at least have to own your home and have no debt. Then it's possible.

Will you have stuff you have to maintain and pay for? Or will you be debt free?

Also think that would depend on what your hobbies are. Are you into racing GT4s on the weekends or are you planning on getting into wood working to sell cool **** you make on the side?

I'd pretty much have no debt if I did "retire." I'd sell my home, use the equity to buy another house, and live a little more modestly than I do now.

I'd probably side hustle some and maybe live near a ski resort. So I'd do a little hobbying but can hobby without breaking the bank essentially.

Depends on your living expenses and how frugal you are. There are a lot of people that never make more then 51K per year for their salary for their entire life while they are working. And they get by just fine.


If I absolutely had to retire on 51K per year I'd most likely head to Thailand or Mexico for 10 years and try to keep investing. Maybe run a side hustle from those countries as well

I can pay both my cars off now and have plenty in savings. I could sell my house and get easily 300k in equity. I'd be debt free but not living in as nice of a house as I am now.

Do you only get that in retirement? If you get that while you're able to work a decent full time job, you could just work 5-10 years and bankroll and actually retire on a solid income rather than 51K/yr. In 20, 30, 50 years etc. 51K will be peanuts.

That's true too, but I also get a COLA with my retirement. It really ain't much but is something. I have other small investments too. I do work now. I'm in the ministry lol. So I get a little side change that I do kinda set back. What it is, I'd be possibly moving to an area (church) that wouldn't be able to provide any sort of salary at all. I'd want to grow the church, so working a full time job would be tough to do and minister. I know, people do it all the time, but I wouldn't "have" to. I'm in a position where I don't have to have money from any other outside sources coming in.

Granted I'm in a small town, but a bag of chips out here right now is $5 and I'm pretty sure they were like $2.50 in 2019

Healthcare in retirement will probably average $3,500/person per year.

Taxes are less during retirement I believe so you get to keep a bit more.

Just do the math, that's simple math.
