Why straws though?

I remember seeing something about those plastic can/bottle rings strangling wildlife so I usually cut them up before I trash them. Only takes a few seconds.

And that produce bags and grocery sacks can mimic jellyfish and get ingested.

I think when you make that comparison they then note that much of the ice is on the land so when it melts it does add to sea levels.

Yep, CFCs were banned in new appliances and what not, which made sense since there were alternatives available that didn't do the same damage. I've got my fingers crossed the same thing happens to PFAs (forever chemicals). There are filters now that can catch them and they need to become commonplace. Hell, I hope bioplastics that degrade become the norm too. Microplastics are in all municipal water supplies in the US, they're in most seafood, they're even in the air we breathe.

Time to get the plastic out of the oceans and start limiting petroleum based plastics. It's a damn shame most plastic isn't recyclable, hence less than 10% of it ever is after it's tossed in the recycle bin. Most of it just ends up in landfills.
