Lol stuff like this is actually overlooked more than you think everyday. Just look at something like a car. What is the most important thing that needs to be 100%? No one will be able to tell you. The CEO of OceanGate clearly had a battle with this concept - making decisions about where to spend his limited resources. A submarine cannot have a single hole in it. We don't hold that same standard to cars, where it can't have zero defects.

Want to know the great thing about the design of 50 year old white men, when they designed the Trieste over fifty years ago?


The sub is weighed down by magnetized iron pellets, attached to the sub as weights. If power fails, the magnetization is no longer powered, which means the iron pellets are no longer magnetized to the sub and simply fall off.... and the Trieste goes up to the surface naturally.

basically, a really smart failsafe, to get the sub back to the surface in case of catastrophic power failure.

How chitty would it be if the rescue teams found them were trying to get them to the surface right as the titancels were taking their last breathes? Imagine dying as you're on your way to the surface after being stuck for 4 days.

This is the only thing conservatives are running with or gettingfrom this whole situation. As if it wasn't a 50 yr old white man who made the decision to hire kids that he could boss around. I know he made it sound woke to deter more questions but this is hardly a woke individual. Just wanted to cut corners and use minorities, women, or younger guys that are too excited about getting a job in their field to call him out.

Likewise I see liberals on Twitter happy that someone richer than them died or saying chit like no one would care if it were a poor person etc. Overall some people are focused on the wrong things everytime something like this happens. We honestly don't deserve the internet. Can't think of a single situation recently where politards don't insert their perceived victimization.

Seems like you're projecting.

Criticizing the poor design of a deep diving submarine, that eventually got people killed, is completely valid. Any engineer (like me) will tell you, that you should always design redundancies for your redundancies. For a voyage so dangerous like this, you would expect a triplication of redundancies. Always over engineer well beyond the operational requirements, so that if something goes wrong, nobody loses their lives.

Cry more about it, but it's completely valid to **** on him, after he got people killed. Regardless if he was actually woke or just cheap and using woke as an excuse, the existence of woke got these people killed. Always hire based on competency, not quotas or wokeness.
