Why do "brokers" still exist?
Seriously.... Real estate broker? Like.... We have the internet, I'll keep your commission in my pocket, thanks.
Ticket broker? Stock broker? Car salesman?
These jobs are cancer.

What makes me lmfao is when they walk around thinking they are gods gift to the world.
They are right next to those illegal immigrants who mow lawns.
Literally any idiot gets into it. They get fuming when I tell them I work a real job.

These are simple inefficiencies in the economy that will be fixed as technology advances. I dream of a day when real estate salesmen are entirely replaced by automation (as well as similar "leech" professions as mentioned in the OP)

Figured zero fee, online trades is the standard these days. For cars, just use Carvana tbh. Haven't bought a house so not sure what a RE broker does

Honestly u need a broker.
I thought i would get a better deal by going straight to buyer. However we had a back and forth negotiation that went sour.
Then some guy with a broker scooped in and grabbed the deal last second at 10k less than my offer. I am ded srs.
Dude legit said he doesn’t care if I offer 20k more.
Broker kept everything about numbers and professional. The house was 500k off from last year. Dude lost 500k already he didn’t need my bs lmfao

I had to use a realtor to buy my house and they were the most useless person I ever had to deal with. Not only did I not actually need them, but when I had a lawyer look over the paperwork they contradicted a lot of what they said. (Ded fkn Srs)

If you’re investing and have a little bit of knowledge use a discount broker. Save on commissions and management fees even if you have $$$$$$.
IMO and from my limited work experience full service brokers are all the same. They offer the same investment products that’s why it’s so easy to transfer from BoA to Wells Fargo or to Morgan Stanley.

I have never had any appreciation for real estate brokers. They were valuable when they had access to MLS and no one else did. Honestly always felt that should have always been a huge anti-trust case, but anyway...
Recently I sold a house (well its under contract), and it was a rental property for 15 years and was pretty beat up. It needed about 12 different types of contractor to fix everything to get it ready for the market. The realtor had all of those contacts, put the contractor box on the door and scheduled everything, checked behind them, and I just approved quotes and cut checks. She basically GC'ed about $25,000 worth of work on the house. For the first time that was a realtor who was worth EVERY PENNY.
Generally, I have no use for them.

Agreed I spent the last 4 months dealing with some retarded brokers trying to sell the last house I built.
Was seeing absolutely no results so I told them to fuk off. Within a month of doing advertising for the property myself the house was sold.
Fuk paying 6% to an imbecile car salesman that can barely do basic math.

The whole process is scummy. On /r/personalfinancecanada they absolutely hate realtors or RE brokers and now I can see why.

Lots of people don't want to deal with paperwork and whatnot. We bought our house 2 years ago during the bidding wars and I didn't want to be bothered with talking with the other agent/ buyer or deal with the paperwork, talking and such.
We also have a financial advisor that does investments for us and manages our money market accounts, etc.. I just don't want to do any of the stuff and rather pay someone to do it.
I also live on 2 acres of land and I don't want to mow it so I pay $500 a month for someone to do it for me. I live in the DC area so everything here is expensive but I value my time.

In times when money is plentiful and deals are easy, the value of good brokerage isn't as high.
Let the market operate on "hard mode" for a while though, and you'll quickly realize the value of good brokerage.
