So what will be reset season 1? I’ve heard conflicting answers. Will anything be reset? First time I’ve played Diablo.

At the end of every season your character goes to the “Eternal” server, same we’re playing on right now. When the season drops you get to keep everything you’ve earned on your character.

You can keep playing but if you want to access Seasonal rewards/content you’ll have to create a new Seasonal character and start from level 1. And then again in every new season.

As per last update (subject to change) you get to keep campaign skip, map exploration (without capitol waypoints), all account wide renown bonuses with the exception of paragon points and all stat bonuses from Altars of Lilith so you can skip those.

You’ll still have to run some dungeons/strongholds for max level renown bonuses.

Not being able to keep all renown is dumb as ****. In D3 you earned paragon but you didn't have a faction grind to do it, and when the season was over, that paragon added to your main account (cumulative). In D4 they want you to grind 220 paragon points every season and you get no longer term benefit from doing it? Nah, I'm fukking good bro. Too many good games out there to do the same grind over and over. And this is a long ass grind if you don't no-life or get paid to stream.

Some? You have to do all the strongholds and most of the sidequests/dungeons to max renown.

Hope you’re not complaining about having to run dungeons in a game where you’ll be running dungeons for:

- leveling
- Tree of Whisper quests
- side quests
- nightmare dungeons
- codex

If you have fully explored the map with all the altars (not an unreasonable thing to accomplish in 1-1,5 months between launch and S1) you’ll be left with around 500 renown to grind (for a grand total of 20 paragon points) after picking up the waypoints and the strongholds.

There’s also quite a bit of double dipping, seeing how many of the side quests are dungeon quests as well, plus the strongholds that also give out waypoints.

Last but not least you’ll be done with a significant amount of side quests/dungeons by the time you get to 50 anyway.

I do agree that it shouldn’t be the case for each and every season but this has been addressed already so future changes can be expected.

All in all this is a Big fuking nothinburger for now.

It will be ~1400-1500 per area for a total of around 7500 (exploration and altars are worth around ~500-600 and you need 2000). After grinding all altars, all strongholds, finishing campaign, exploring every area, clearing T3 and T4 capstones, and just doing whatever dungeons/quests I happened to be near or needed, running several nightmare dungeons/trees/legions/helltides, I still had over 1000 renown to grind in most areas with fractured peaks and maybe one other being slightly slower. I hit level 65 in that time. I've now maxed renown at level 71. Nightmare dungeons cater to specific dungeons as well. It's intentionally designed to make you go out of your normal way to grind the rest of the renown. It is its own thing.

Regardless, having to farm 7500 renown every season is a big deal and it's not fun.

Yeah I fuked up, should be around 900-1000 renown left, they’ve said It’s 900 for Fractured Peaks.

In general, varying per zone you start with:

Altars/zone 280-300
Single waypoint 20
Full exploration 350-400 (zones 5 a pop, waypoint renown is not included)

Then you get the rest of the waypoints for 120-140 and the 3 strongholds for 300 per zone.

900 renown works out to 12 dungeons and 30 side quests and you’ll be running a lot of those during leveling.

I thought they mentioned in their podcast renown and altars were getting carried over, and only fog of war on the map and rediscovering waypoints (which are gonna be shown on the map) were needed again.

There was even talk of not resetting sidequests.

Was this just what they were considering I'll have to re-read it.

Ah right so you partially keep map completion and statue renown and have to grind the rest out with dungeons etc.

The only time that renown felt good to earn was when you had a combination of:

- Dungeon you haven't completed yet
- Quest in the same dungeon
- Tree of Whisper in the same dungeon

Blizzard should consider either being more generous with the renown accumulation, or otherwise doing something cheeky like multiplying the rewards after killing Lilith or giving global +500 renown to all zones for killing Lilith.

X5, which comes out to 60+ dungeons and 150+ side quests per season. I don't wanna do the quests once, let alone 150 times per season. I only wanna do the dungeons I need to do, which isn't 60 per season.

Here's what you actually start with:
Fractured Peaks: 680 (1320 remaining)
Dry Steppes: 605 (1395 remaining)
Hawezar: 640 (1360 remaining)
Kehjistan: 600 (1400 remaining)
Scosglen: 710 (1290 remaining)

That's 6765 renown you have to earn EVERY season which puts your 12/30 a bit low.

Look I know every person wants to play the game a certain way and that's fine. If your goal is to never do uber lilith or whatever end-game capstone exists (which will likely be part of the seasonal journey and achievements) then great, it doesn't matter. None of this is required to do nightmares and level to 100. But if you do want to then it's a 100+ hour grind just to get started.

Again, you're still forgetting the stronghold and waypoint renown points, totaling at 1500 + 700. With 7 waypoints total (so you need to grab 6 for 120) in FP - and the 3 strongholds - that means you need to get 900 more for max renown. And I've nailed 28 dungeons out of 60 and 31 quests out of the 150 just while leveling and barely dipping into WT3 which is basically early mid game at best.

60 dungeons and 150 quests is maybe 30 hours if we completely disregard dungeon quests and most definitely not 100. And that's stretched out over 3 months. Also I'm positive that there will be guides popping up soon on "zomg fastest renown maxing".

Sure it's far from ideal but seeing how they've already changed their minds several times about renown requirements I could easily see them add much needed renown bonuses to world events, cellars, Tree caches and so on. And also maybe to up renown gains from the rest of the sources. Or just add a seasonal boost, or whatever.

They're not going to get rid of their renown system 1 season in.

So I just hit 51 my barbarian, but he had no paragon points. For some reason I still have Diablo three stuck in my head and thought that was shared among alts.

Just hit 61...growing bored TBH.

I don't think I have it in me these days to just play games that make you grind for the sake of grinding...

Helltides are boring. World Bosses are pretty boring but at least you have the entertainment of playing with others. Playing 30 dungeons a day is boring as all fk.

And 95% of the drops from all of the above are garbage.

There's no way I can play much longer without both XP and drop rates getting significantly better. It's turning into a snooze really fast.

Feeling bored as well. At this point, I’m almost expecting a d3 style overhaul in the future. The game needs work. I’m only still on my first character. I can’t even imagine playing alts at this point unless I’m full no life twitch streamer status.

I don’t have it in me in any way whatsoever to start another character in this game…
Not when it has taken me almost 3 weeks just to get to 60 and nothing but mediocre as fk gear.

Have you gotten to WT4, I did the capstone dungeon at lvl 56, at least you can chase more ancestral gear and uniques and being under levelled makes it more challenging.

But yeah it is a bit samey between 60-100 but that is the style of game it is, I've started chasing mounts/armours/trophies to change it up.

Sometimes all it takes is one or two good upgrades. how damage reduction and power works in this game is that there are thresholds that once crossed it feels like a dramatic difference.

I'm one shotting everything and melting bosses in second because I grinded out gear and paragon before attempting to move up. Shoot for Ilevel 600 stuff on WI and 700 on WIII.

There are rare enemies in the game that will consistently drop one particular item. You can form that item until you get the one you want. These items can be higher than the max power of every other game. There is a weapon for every class, armor, jewelry etc. if you group to do it, item levels can go higher. These are great if you're stuck and need one particular piece. At level 58, you can get a level 720+ weapon from these guys.

https://gamerant.com/diablo-4-extrem...item-power-d4/

As for obos, there are some legendary affects that only drop and can't get them from completing a dungeon. Role those first. For instance, rings give energy/rage/mana regen stats and affects. Only those can role certain regen stats and affects. You will have to look up whatever it is you need and go from there.

What class and build are you playing?

If you need a guide, I recommend icyveins. You don't have to follow them exactly, but it tells you BiS and guides you the best way to get the pieces.

https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides

FYI, I cleared the capstone at 50. Remember that enemies scale with your level, but not gear or paragon. If you level too fast without these two first, it gets tough.

Nah, you should be able to beat it at 50 by the latest and right after the campaign. Yeah, the Curator is a ph4ggot, but you can whittle him down. Technically I guess you could hit 55, but since monsters cap out at 50 (and so do the drops) in WT1-2, it will be extremely slow. Try an undead slaying elixir for 20% damage and maybe some renown for the extra pots/skill points. What's your class and spec? Maybe it needs a bit of a tuning.

Up until WT3 I would only spend obols on weapons to find some upgrades if I didn't get any in a while or I've hit the obol cap. Later on you can gamble for other slots to get aspects for your codex.

I did not realize that you could craft nightmare sigils. I have a whole bunch of tier 1 and did not understand why no tier twos were dropping. Apparently the tier 2 drops are very rare. I have almost 500 sigil dusts and just started crafting them.

Until now, I was clearing the tier 1 nightmares in five minutes. Lol I already have my first legendary paragon ability.

Going to start running these and see how high I can go. Anyone know what tier the nightmare dungeons start to get hard with power level 675-735 gear?

Trial and error, also depends how strong/complete your build is with aspects, paragons etc.

Monster levels are fixed, formula is 50+3/4 depending on WT + nightmare sigil's level starting with 1. So they scale from 54 to 154.

FYI, I cleared the capstone at 50. Remember that enemies scale with your level, but not gear or paragon. If you level too fast without these two first, it gets tough.

aight lvl 50, going to attempt cathedral again before work. Im necro and I have studied buiilds 0%. Currently Ive maxed pets and use bone splinter for damage, regen essence with cleave, and i have a dope scythe that sends out 3 blood waves every 60 seconds. What is the "leet" build for necros currently? I used corpse explode for a bit and didn't like it at all, hoping it isn't something related to that lol

edit: and I have been a hardcore gamer my entire life, almost went pro in 1.6 Once I had a kid and wife, my gaming attention span went to almost zero. D4 has kept me interested this entire time, and while I might lose a little interest I know Ill be grinding for another month or two at least.

You guys can bug nightmare dungeons where you can repeat them over and over as long as you don’t finish the last part of the dungeon. I do this to farm a bunch of sigils and I’ll break them down for the powder. I ended up with 9999 and I have a stash full of more sigils.

The issue with this, is that if you complete the dungeon, you can upgrade your glyphs. once I've upgraded them a few times, I'll use this method. One of my glyphs increases my damage by 1.2% with a multiplier every time I upgrade it. It's very significant.

And you are correct. I’ll finish it when I’m done with the bug. I’m just trying to get sigils, exp, loot during this process. If I get a blind burrow sigil I’ll do it over and over for awhile.

Just did my first hell tide. I highly recommend doing this. Speed farm as many things as you can. Ended up with five legendary's, one of which was extremely high power level. The results were better than nightmare dungeons
