GOP announces Defunding/abolishing the ATF

As a result of the Biden Regime's authoritarian actions. After several court cases have determined the ATF has over stepped significantly and taken down many FFL dealers over the last two years, they have determined the ATF has to go. They are working outside of the law.

I assume Xiden has the authority to veto this, but it's gonna be a hell of a fight.

FBI is likely next as a result of the Durham report.

Nice of the GOP to make another promise they won't keep.

They are just an agency enforcing the laws on the books. So, it's irrelevant if they are abolished or not. Their responsibilities would just be moved to another department. So, your answer is "It doesn't matter either way."

While I think the ATF/FBI/DOJ have overstepped as of late, I don't think they can be "abolished". The funding and duties will transfer to different agencies that are likely already overworked and won't be able to take on the responsibility so the spending will become more wasteful. I think they need to be reformed, starting at the top. I don't know what the answer is, but these agencies top to bottom do a lot more than what is publicized and I think there's merit to keeping them around but maybe checking 5hem harder when they overstep.

Did not read passed this, because I just posted the SCOTUS said otherwise.

You didn't respond to my original post so I'm not even sure what you hoped to gain with your 1 sentence reply that had nothing to do with my post, so I thought you were still going down the "ATF needs to be abolished" route. Now had Trump just shown a modicum of empathy when people were getting rekt by covid he would have won 2020 and Biden wouldn't have put the new director in and none of these changes to descriptions of items would have taken place.

But yeah, keep running that clown for more of the same... son.

The bill of rights kind of disagrees and that's a grey area. There are some things that the states have no power over and would need to fall in the hands of the federal government. Can you expand on your sentiment?

The constitution was designed to ensure the right of the people. The bill of rights doesn't override the constitution. "We THE PEOPLE...". The federal government's job was to maintain the framework of the constitution, not change it, and not to infringe on it. Its literally written "shall not be infringed...". in other words, it was to prevent the federal government from infringing. It didn't give them authority over it!!

When Alexander Hamilton explained what the purpose of the federal government was when talking to the people of New York, he stated that it was for "minor issues" and "mostly foreign issues". The people of New York told him to pound sand initially. It took tremendous effort to convince them to go along with it. Fast forward to today, look at the federal government. Does this sound like the same government??

ATF, CIA, FBI, IRS.... Quite a few three letter agencies should at the very least be greatly reigned in, if not outright knee-capped. Speaking of the latter, the 16th amendment is long overdue for a repeal

The current government and leftist shills in particular really belong to some other completely different country given how hypocritical, contradictory, and uneducated their political ideals are while sharing little resemblance to the actual virtues the country was founded on.

>Firearms are weapons of war that don't belong to citizens!
>Firearms are useless because the government has jets!
>Why would anyone ever need firearms against a corrupt government?
>The US government should absolutely keep supplying militant organizations with firearms in order to usurp a foreign nation's established government!

And so on, and so on, andso on.They have no understanding nor any respect for the founding of the United States because they're nothing more than authoritarians and bootlickers.
I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine

Bad move.

If the ATF was abolished, DHS would expand to cover it and be worse than the ATF.

We're a long way from that, so as it stands the ATF still has a use, yeah? I'd agree that IF we had a perfect system then the ATF wouldn't be required in any fashion, but we can realistically say that we're not there yet.

@ Kraken, are we discussing the ATF/FBI/DEA/etc or the 2nd amendment? You're taking the discussion a bit off the rails.

Why do you think the GOP is going after the ATF? Do you not know what they've done? Watch the video, because Gaetz explains, and yes, it has to do with the second amendment. The FBI is a different issue.

Perhaps you should read up on the SCOTUS rulings and the evidence presented, because you clearly haven't.

This is already being done. The patriot act and FISA are already being abused by DHS, so I'm not sure why this is suddenly an argument.

The NHS, DHS, FBI, and ATF are all being investigated. Bottom line is emergency powers are the issue.

They all need to be abolished.
