It is even worse than they say as it is only counting money that was directly used. In practice, if I spent 1000 on rent and 200 on beer. While getting 700 dollars in student loans and 500 dollars in job earnings you see the money is subsidizing the beer money even if it isn't actually being used.

Listen you stupid chitsmearer. If you take out a loan then pay it back. Don't get a degree that pays like dog chit because of your woke mindset. I know it sucks that student loans are ridiculous but there are other ways around relief then just giving people 20k. Lowering or eliminating interest rates or even having more programs like the Public service loan forgiveness.

Education is becoming so expensive because 75% of new jobs require a degree:https://truthout.org/articles/75-of-...ants-have-one/

And, statistics show that with each year the average pay packet rises and unemployment rate falls proportionate to the level of the education pyramid one is on:https://www.bls.gov/emp/chart-unempl...-education.htm

It looks fairly unanimous: Education is the best means you can employ to get yourself ahead in this day and age. Low IQ tradies always argue they can make bank, but stats show those with degrees typically earn more.

You musn't blame the students, or at least not assign all blame to them. Universities are costing so much to attend because the country is failing its students and the universities let their budgets get slashed. Any prominent first-world country should prioritize educating its citizens.

Schools get hit by astronomical administrative expenses so they need more students to cover the costs, and when the line between university and corporation blurs, costs just rise and rise forever.

In B4 students are blamed anyway.
This is a complex and controversial topic that may have different opinions and perspectives. But the answer is clear.

Employer student loan repayment is a benefit that some companies should offer to help their employees pay off their student loans faster. Programs vary, but out of the companies that do, most put money directly toward your student loans — often $100 each month — over a certain number of years, or up to a lifetime maximum.

Some possible arguments in favor of employer student loan repayment are:

-It can help attract and retain talented workers who are burdened by student debt.

-It can reduce stress and improve productivity and morale among employees.

-It can demonstrate social responsibility and commitment to education and diversity.

Some possible arguments against employer student loan repayment are:

-It can be costly and administratively complex for employers to implement and maintain.

-It can create inequity and resentment among employees who do not have student loans or who have already paid them off.

-It can discourage employees from seeking other forms of repayment assistance or relief, such as income-driven plans or forgiveness programs.

Using tax payer money to pay for student loans is a different proposal that has been debated by some politicians and advocates. Some possible arguments in favor of this idea are:

-It can stimulate the economy by freeing up disposable income for consumers.

-It can reduce the racial wealth gap and promote social justice and mobility.

-It can address the root causes of the student debt crisis, such as rising tuition costs and inadequate financial aid.

Some possible arguments against this idea are:

-It can be unfair and regressive to use public funds to benefit mostly higher-income individuals who have more education and earning potential.

-It can create moral hazard and encourage irresponsible borrowing and spending behaviors.

-It can increase the national debt and divert resources from other public priorities, such as health care or infrastructure.

In the end, using tax payer money would be a form of Socialism and some may even say its a form of Communism, and thats not a road we should go down.

It's such a simple concept that maybe it's precisely the sort of barrier we need. Not that it would make a difference when even once respected universities are embracing clown world and enough of their students are going into life-long debt to becomedumber.

They'll just keep voting for the warmongering pricks who keep the interest rates high because they also can't control their own out of control spending habits.

You hit the nail on the head with the obvious conflict of forgiving loans that are still being handed out willy-nilly. There isn't so much as a tiny effort to bother addressing the root cause of today's student loan bubble, so tomorrow's will only be that much worse. And the entitled dipschits of today will wind up being the ones having to pay that greater sum for tomorrow's bailout.

A core flaw to the entire student loan program is that it was indirectly handing a blank check to the colleges and universities, which they gladly filled out to make college education as costly as possible to fill their own coffers. Send them the tab, evenevenespecially if it means shuttering some glorified gender studies institutions. Splitting all of that money still wouldn't cover much, but maybe people can chalk it up to a life lesson that they don't need to take out a loan to pretend there are more than two genders.

I say no because this does less than nothing to fix the root problem, which is primarily colleges increasing tuition and fees higher every year that don't match costs. "Non profit" is an expensive lie. They formed a financial cartel a long time ago.

Bailout now means more bailouts in the future, which will be in many ways a bailout of colleges losing students.

yes and then all of the useless degrees evaporate overnight because banks will laugh at you when you tell them you want to take out a loan for an art degree

the parents are the ones who supported their kids in these outrageous loans for BS degree's.
the next gen of parents are proud of their non-binary highschool kids.
by the time the 6 yr olds whose parents lopped off their diks/tits hit highschool i expect most colleges to have gone under.

It's not just demand, and the students have a Catch-22. They either go to college and get saddled with huge debt, or they remain noncompetitive in the job market.

Colleges charge more because they think student loans are blank cheques and they're themselves loaded with huge administrative costs. There's a massive amount of infrastructure behind what college students typically see (like what goes into free mental health support, or sports programs etc.)

That adds millions to expenditures for staff salaries, but these are non-academic positions so they don't bring in income via grants, so it's a huge cost for the colleges.

And in the US as I understand it the colleges had a massive drop in their state funding. Without public funds they need high enrolment numbers to keep afloat, and with the government offering guaranteed loans colleges see blank cheques as I aforementioned, and since the students have to pay it back its basically a lot of money that becomes someone else's problem. Who would turn that down?

So all those useless degrees in gender studies and art history and wicker basket weaving, and lowering entry requirements to let students into tough programs like law and med when they really shouldn't be there, are by design meant to lure students in because colleges absolutely need that money in a way they didn't decades ago.

Like I said, you can't blame the students for being forced into a Catch-22 the boomers created. Unless they're spending their student loans on stupid chit like drugs and booze. But giving the loans directly to the students is retarded AF, we don't have that in my country. The money goes directly to the university and we don't start paying it back until we're in full time work and earning above a threshold.

Hey, there's a 19 year old kid with no life experience. Let's give him $80,000 which he can use however he wishes but we really hope he'll just pay for his degree. What could possibly go wrong?
Back off, Warchild.

OP is so poverty he can't even pay back back his HECS loan (australian government loan scheme for university fees).

That would be true, if he wasn't lying about going to university.

In the end, using tax payer money would be a form of Socialism and some may even say its a form of Communism, and thats not a road we should go down.
Just going to focus on this part and why tax payer or "government" bailout is a hard no. It would be basically the same as printing money which they already do too much of which will end up costing us all a lot in the long run. I think for most people, even those with debt, it's going to cost them more in the long run. Statistically, if you have a BA your earning potential is $1M higher than someone without a degree. So, it shouldn't be an issue but we all know how it really goes. Some people, actually, the only real people it will benefit is the real basket cases that racked up a lot of student loans because they were worthless outside school and now they have an astronomical level of debt to the point they will never really be able to enjoy anything. It's really not fair to make everyone else absorb the mistakes of people who should suffer the consequences of their actions.

About communism. That is the underlining cause. First obamacare, where poors get better healthcare than working people Then they were getting free phones, utilities, rental assistace. Then they are screaming for UBI free housing. There is a complete underclass of people who just want to be on vacation 365 day a year smoking weed all day.

This. Boomer parents were/are part of the problem. An entire generation of kids brainwashed into thinking that college is the only route to success. It doesn’t matter what you go to college for, just get a degree and you’ll be successful, if not you’ll be digging ditches.
