30 shot 2 dead in Brooklyn, MD block party

Sheit man. This is why people need to work. Too much free time = too much trouble. Still got 3 days to go for this holiday weekend. Sunday night and Monday night are going to be the worst since everyone's off. People on 3 day benders.

Holidays have just become another reason for people to get massively drunk and start pulling out guns and shooting people. So much for spending time with family and friends. As I type this just listening to an ambulance transporting a 30 year old to the hospital shot in the head with CPR in progress. And for what? Muh guns? Yeah, death has a certain freedom to it and guns are definitely providing that level of service in this country.

Similar story from Highland Park IL last 4th of July. 7 dead with 48 wounded:

JUVENILE VICTIMS (5 minors aged 8, 8, <12, 14, & 17 were among at least 25 wounded by gunshots, with one 8-yr-old suffering a severed spine, ~21 additional people were hospitalized with non-gunshot injuries incurred during the panic), Gunman: 21-yr-old white male fired over 70 rounds from a legally-purchased AR-15-style assault rifle, name withheld here

Because we think the general public is responsible enough and smart enough to handle guns, which they aren't. Also the 2nd Amendment was created for the protection of search and seizure against the government during a time where the colonies were under British rule, which is an outdated concept. It isn't the government that's likely to end your life these days. It's some random person who is angry, drunk, or mentally ill such as your next door neighbor or some idiot at the shopping mall. Going out in public these days is just as dangerous in the middle of the day as it is after dark.

Because getting shot doesn't mean you automatically die???? That # will likely change. The 2 were just confirmed at the scene. The others, that could change over time and usually does with such a large # of people involved. That's like saying when 9/11 happened only the people in the plane and the towers died. But no, many others died years later as a result. Emergency responders. Broken hearts/suicides. Related deaths due to all the crap people breathed in. All can be attached to the official # of deaths on 9/11.

I was thinking about that. What would seem like a somewhat reasonable compromise would be on extended holiday weekends, just activate the national guard. They're bored AF anyways. Gives them something to do while also deterring people from being too stupid. They do them for protests to keep the peace. Why not for holiday weekends that are 3/4 days where everyone and their mother is getting drunk, especially during the summer when it's hot and tempers are short. In CA JUST this weekend we have a heat wave of 106, 104, 102 something. After the 4th everything gets cool again. WTF is that. It's been cooler than usual for weeks and boom, this weekend of all weekends it gets hot.

The problem is we wait until sht gets bad before trying to do anything to stop it or prevent it from happening. There's very little if any preventative action. It's all just reactive. I mean even putting a curfew on holiday weekends between 1/2 AM - 5 AM would solve a lot of this crap as most of these shootings happen in the late evening/morning anyways. Nothing good happens after 1 AM.
