Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I would prefer if we get another normal-ish economic cycle, though I'm skeptical that it can be done. Investing in China seems complicated and very risky. I can see the reasoning for investment in Mexico as they have a bit younger population, decent geography/natural resources, and can at present still be leveraged via currency differentiation/exchange rates. I've written in main misc that if somehow Texas were to actually cut ties with the US federal government that I could absolutely see Texas turning to a stronger relationship with Mexico for those reasons.
Why do you believe that politics and economics aren't areas of concern or interest for a parent? I don't have a spouse and my daughter is nearing adulthood. I care about trying to steer us in a good direction re: location, employment and investments. I don't want to be a burden on her and would prefer we have a bit more time together or at least living in proximity to each other. I don't want to prevent her living her own life and at the same time I still want to protect her as best I can and hopefully provide a fallback position for a little while in case life goes pancake shaped. Like training wheels on a bicycle.

I do get overwhelmed by some things and I'm aware there are areas where I'm ignorant and my best option is trying to figure out who to believe or trust. I know there are a lot of people who are out for themselves and who aren't much concerned with how other people may be affected.

I'm particularly anxious about money/financial things because that's an area of challenge for me. I've had very restricted financial resources and that makes me feel more anxious. Also I feel responsible for setting my daughter up well in life if I can. She is due to inherit a fair sum soon which I hope to be wise about.

Absolutely nobody in the US cares about Ukraine outside of people who live for the Current Thing on Twitter and ********. If Russia flattened the entire country tomorrow, 98% of people wouldn't give it a thought. Unless we did something stupid that endangered Americans as a result.

As far as restrictions on withdrawing cash so far that isn't something that banks are very open about. I've seen/heard/read too many different accounts by people saying that they were not allowed to withdraw their own money in cash, even when the amounts weren't that large. These were stories about amounts you wouldn't expect to have to call ahead and make arrangements for- under $10K.
