Which number from 1-7 is wrong?


1. Performance mode broken (loses details, sharply dropped frames, dynamic resolution as low as 720p). Recommended mode is 30fps quality

2. A small minority of people having ps5 overheat or shutting off. While small, it's still higher rate than other games.

3. No dynamic HUD which you could remove while exploring

4. No hard mode on NG

5. Not enough controller profiles, people using R1 to dodge etc (now patched)

6. Intense motion blur (now patched)

7. Auto camera which centers on character and doesn't give you the freedom to pan while exploring (now patched)

Seems to me that being patient leads to the shocking conclusion of games getting better with time after release.

I really don't understand this obsession with 60fps lol. Have you not played any games on PS4 or older consoles? just because a game isnt 60fps doesn't mean it's inferior or lacking in any way. Most sony exclusives have always been 30fps and they're a rock solid 30 fps with minimal input lag or any drops. A steady 30fps is just as decent as 60fps and if you actually play it at that framerate, you're not gonna notice a difference. If you juggle between performance / graphics modes then yes obviously it's gonna be noticeable, but your brain eventually adjusts to either mode.


And the framerate is NOT juddery on the 30fps mode. It's extremely solid with no drops.

If you're basing it off Digital Foundry, then the DF dude was actually extremely happy with the motion blur implementation in FF (which I disagree with) and there have been numerous games where DF said it's better playing with the 30fps even over 60fps because of the visual fidelity and clarity.

And the demo isn't a spoiler lol, it's just the prologue for the game, so you're gonna be playing through it anyway.

Try it for yourself, and if you hate how it is, you hate how it is. Fuk is the point of lobbing a bunch of complaints on a game you haven't even touched yet when you can try it for free. You know, like I the good ol days when most games had demos for that exact reason.

Also this. Had no issues at all. Only thing that stood out are frame drops. I always turn off motion blur in games, but it's barely noticeable in this one even before the patch.

Your argument about "didn't you once play in 30fps?" is lame af because this is the "next gen" where technology gets better and so do expectations. When you experience buttery smooth gameplay and nice visuals, it becomes the new norm. My current car doesn't have a handle to roll down the windows anymore, I don't walk around with a discman, camera and Nokia flip phone anymore because my S23 does it all, and shockingly I now listen to said music with wireless earbuds.

Why should I be okay going back to old tech? You guys are the reason devs release their games in such a mess these days. All these games releasing broken like Plaguetale, Jedi Survivor, Redfall, and FF16 yet the fanboys just consoom anyways.

What's the issue with waiting till it's fixed? I don't NEED to play it now and hopefully I won't be dead in a few months. I'll be playing a superior version of the game and getting the best experience out of it. Some games even go on sale. Waiting a little is a total win for me with zero downsides.

Totally will, when I can play at a stable 60fps. I don't dislike the game itself, I'm excited for it. I just have a backlog and there's no reason to not wait and play the best patched up version of it.What do you mean there's no superior version when it's already much better with the new patch which fixed 3 issues I would have had problems with. Motion blur makes me feel sick, new controller profiles which I prefer and you can disable the following camera. It's a great patch, playing it now would be a much better time than at launch lol.

But to respond to your post about trying it, the answer is no. The game isn't running at a stable 60fps so why waste my time when I can play it at 60fps later on? Can you answer that or are you just gonna have a "strong discussion" by telling me to stfu again?

Discounting the fact that companies are tied to shareholders and excess who demand games release in specific financial quarters, or devs having to work on multiple modes for games (quality mode, quality with rtx, performance, performance with rtx etc), while taking into account display differences (VRR, 120, 60) + only so much time/manpower/budget. Just blaming it on "fanboys" or "dayone buyers" is a pretty shallow way to look at it lol.


Next gen doesn't mean that games are about "60fps" ... Its more than that. It means bigger scope, bigger spectacles, bigger and more things happening on the screen at any given time and yes, with that also comes better framerates. However especially with consoles you're gonna have to accept that sometimes there are compromises.

Square isn't some huge company like Sony, MS so they probably don't have the budget, time or manpower to get all the modes working on day one.... So they did work on one mode and released it flawlessly which is the 30fps mode and it's actually one of the better 30fps implementations.

Also what old tech? you're talking about a next gen game that does some ridiculous things and goes absolutely mental during gameplay and setpieces .... I'm sure elden ring isn't even doing half the things that Final Fantasy is doing and even Horizon's supposed mega boss fight that can only be done on the PS5 was an embarrassment compared to what FF16 does ..... There's nothing "old tech" about this particular game at all.

Because you've played most of the games in your life at less than 60fps, and it didn't detract from your enjoyment. I didn't realize 60fps is now required for fun. As for your previous post

1. Not a locked 60, runs at 720. Didn't bother me, but it's all personal preference, hence try the demo

2. A small minority will always have something go wrong with their system or PC. That's always been a thing. I've never experienced it. YMMV.

3. If you're at full health, the hud disappears. Is mandatory HUD removal a mandatory feature in games now? Since when? Don't want HUD, don't be below full health. And you need your HUD anyway to see your health, and what abilities you have on cooldown.

4. No hard mode on NG, correct

5. I almost never change the default controls on most games. The default feels absolutely comfortable to me. I don't even know what the other layouts are because I've never thought to change it. Play the demo and see how it feels to you.

6. Very light motion blur. I've played games with some hardcore motion blur. The one in this (before patch) is hardly worth mentioning. Of course that's my eyes and YMMV, hence try the demo and see for yourself

7. I don't even know what you mean about the camera. It works the same as any other action game or action RPG I've played in the past few years. Try the demo and see for yourself.


There's my response to your points. Many of your concerns can be answered by simply downloading the free 2 hour demo to see how these things feel to you personally.

I could see if trying the game meant spending 70 on a chance, but you can try it for free. It's why demos matter and more games should bring them back.

At this point you're just looking for reasons to NOT give it a chance. I thought you claimed you were a FFcel. Any FFcel would just jumped right in at launch despite any issues it has.

Performance mode is not broken. It's just not ideal. You have an LG C1. The VRR helps. It's not perfect but I doubt it will affect your playthrough all that much. I thought it was very playable. I personally prefer the Quality mode for crisper resolution. The 30fps is pretty solid and after an hour you really just get used to it. You have no problem playing HFW in 30fps mode at launch so you have zero excuse here.

Also, there is dynamic HUD. It disappears after awhile outside of the battles. This has been mentioned a bunch of times by others yet somehow you are still in denial.

Returnal, Ragnarok, Rift Apart, Demon's Souls, Dead Space, RE4Remake etc. Why are some devs able to have near flawless launches with a variety of modes? Your point seems shallow to me, since you didn't take that into account.

If companies knew that broken games wouldn't sell, I'm sure much more effort would be put into performance. Instead they realize they can still sell copies and just patch it later.


Hard disagree. Which games are you even talking about with the huge scope and spectacles? Most releases so far have been cross gen. The 2023 GOTY is Zelda TOTK and I'm sure it has a bunch of scope and spectacle....but people don't think "next gen" when they think of TOTK. When most people think "next gen" they think 1440p 60fps, and super fast loading. Those are the bedrock, spectacle comes after.
Okay you have no idea what you're saying here. Sony is the publisher, and doesn't make the actual games. They have studios who make games like Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Sucker Punch, etc. SquareEnix is a massive company that has been making games for decades and very comparable to these big Sony studios. They are not some poverty indy dev lmao. Bluepoint made Demon's Souls and Housemarque made Returnal. Both new small devs that pale in comparison to Square yet they delivered more polished products.

The old tech I'm referring to is strictly performance. I was refuting your point that because I used to play in 30fps that I should be fine with it now. My point was that standards have changed and performance is the new norm. I shouldn't have to go back to PS4 performance on my next gen PS5.

Because I don't jump into it right now doesn't mean I'm not a fan who may never play it. I waited a couple months to play Burning Shores and I'm the biggest fanboy.

Game won't disappear and hopefully WW3 won't start while I wait a few months to enjoy a smoother experience. The recent patch already made things so much better and guys on reddit are crying cuz they already beat the game and wanted motion blur toggle and better controller profiles at launch.

By no HUD, I mean nothing at all on the screen. No quest markers or texts telling you objectives to the right side of the screen. Can all that stuff be removed?

I havent actually used his abilities yet, they didnt look that good tbh.

But that entire chapter of the game was one of the best things I've ever played and solidified GOTY for me. Absolute peak gaming and storytelling
