Van Halen with David Lee Roth back in the day.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Not best but most surprising was Jacksoul. I didn't know who they were but they were opening for James brown and had obviously learned a lot touring with him. Their albums don't match what they were like live. Phenomenal guitarist and they had James Browns horn section for some songs.
Unfortunately, dude got hit on a moped, spent a long time in icu, got out then got cancer (maybe from all the CT scans) and died.

Honestly, U2 back in the mid 90s was insanely good. Big Audio Dynamite II opened, then Public Enemy did an hour set, then U2 themselves performed for over 4 hours straight! Actung Baby album was out and the stage show was crazy. Seeing prime cracked out Flava Flav before was also fun.
Saw Nathalie Merchant at a small theater venue and she was incredible. Half accoustic and she sounded better than I could have imagined live. Her voice was almost angelic.

I'm into Jazz so it's overwhelming.... but if we're talking mainstream (dont neg) Dave Mathews Band is great. I don't think I've ever listened to them other than live. 20 min jams. Need to be sitting close and not far away or any concert will suck

OK then not loaded I'd say Red Hot Chili Peppers back in 2006 when they were doing their Stadium Arcadium tour.
