What's the best way to learn advanced formulas and functions in Quip for data metrics

I go here but it's confusing:

I know that many are Excel formulas.

Is there a quick and easy way to learn this information?

If you mean just learning the syntax to call them, you'll learn the ones you need from regular use. The rest you can look up...You're not going to need everything in that list. I somehow doubt Bessel functions are coming up for your chit, for example.

Learn based on the functionality you need and build from there.

Thanks. I don't work in finance so I've been able to get away from knowing just the basics in Excel, but now I need to provide advanced metrics. I figured I should spend my free time learning vs. being on here. Or I can do both at the same time as this is boring.

I took accounting and finance in business school but that was 30 years ago.

Most of these are just mathematical or statistical functions that get used a lot.

OP I would scroll through and make a list of stuff you might find useful, categorized by topic. For example, CLEAN removes nonprinting chars in a string and might be useful.

Right now I'm working on COUNTIF and COUNTIFS but I'm trying to learn formulas that a former co-worker created and they're pretty long. Ugh. When I edit some where I moved cells I sometimes receive error messages. Some that I edit work fine.

Describe what you are trying to do typically. Like what types of calculations and manipulations of data do u need to do?

Oh so they involve some logic inside right? It might help to write down exactly what you want and then think of how to rephrase that using quip.

Count the number of blank cells in a large spreadsheet for different people on my team to make sure that we fill in each cell. Their initials are in one column.

Countblank counts number of empty cells. Could you use that?

I know. I have friends who retired at my age (50) and sleep in until 11 and go wine tasting. It's definitely the life.
