had a bad flood a few months back- woke up to 15" of water in my finished basement, even with 2 sump pumps going. almost all of my guitars took some water on. They were all in the cases floating around like little boats.
Emotionally devastating to say the least. All of my electrics took have some serious finish checking, but surprisingly all the electronics work fine and they're playable. the Neck on my 79 LP custom twisted but it's fixable.
My acoustics were a different story- bracing let go, tops warped.... they're fixable, but 1000+ each, and who knows how well they'd hold up after. At this point I'd rather put that money towards a new one.
I really want a Gibby SJ200, but holy fuk they're expensive, plus I never see any around for sale that I can try out. Taylor has some really nice models, I test drove a 424ce the weekend that was dope, plus they have a BOGO deal right now where you can add on a travel size or a 3/4 mini for 100-200 bucks extra if you buy a 200 series or better....
so much to consider

I'm 'devastated' hearing your story.
I agree....I'd go with replacement based on you statement above.
Good luck on your decision.

Some amps sound good at higher gain but their clean channel is garbage. Of course you could always run two amps with aswitcher.
My signal chain: Boost > Drive (tube preamp) > Delay > ACS1* (Fender) > Fender cabinet
*Could be easily substituted for a Fender amp but the pedal sounds close enough at the volume I play at

Glad to see Kramer making a gradual comeback, hugely underrated brand. I'd like to see them pushed for modern metal, too, to mix up the monopoly ESP and Schecter have on the market.

I've got a Walrus ACS1 on my board which does a Fender Deluxe Reverb and I go into a real Fender cabinet. Now if I had a Fender amp to plug into I'd just switch the pedal off. Best of both worlds. I don't have to worry about replacing and biasing power tubes. I agree with you gear has evolved and it's hard to make a case for that 80s gear. I still have a soft spot for 80s and 90s rack gear from Lexicon and Eventide. Most guitarists from that era are now using a Fractal to get those sounds but I'd still rather use those racks. They're just stupidly expensive now and difficult to repair.

Here, he does a solo over a synthwave song, and uses Axe-FX to nail an absolutely mogging tone:
This is the ultimate argument for going digital right here in this vid, IMO.

My 2 cents — digital is incredible for clean and high gain tones. Where the real thing has the edge is at low gain, "edge of breakup," etc, but getting great tones at low volume can be a challenge. I do most of my playing late at night and I don't want to piss off the neighbours. And loading down a tube amp is no free lunch since you're going to burn through power tubes much faster and that's $200 plus in local money for a matched quad set of EL34s. Unless you feel comfortable biasing the amp that's more money for a tech to do it.
Go back to the 80s and great tone cost big bucks. When Vai joined DLR band he needed to loan some Marshalls from Steve Stevens because his Carvin rig wasn't cutting it. Today everyone on youtube and instagram can dial in those kinds of tones at bedroom volume. Don't need to know anything about speakers and miking cabinets.
