They had relevance under cleomenes vs the Achean league, and very nearly regained the entire peloponese. It took the entire Achean league, and help from Macedonians to stop the spartans. Also after leuctra no state really ever gained dominance because from then on, it was all the Macedonians or Romans.

The problem is you relate the sexual escapades of those people some 2000 years ago to today’s degenerate gay community. The 2 are not related. The ancients did not have gay pride,parades and flags. They banged young boys on the side and that’s all it was. It’s not a reflection on you or your politics , just a fact of ancient life.

Imagine if 2000 years in the future, people are only left with sources from the elites, what they would think of our world? Even now, elites are involved in all sorts of sexual degeneracy (see Epstein..)

The concept of gayness doesn't really apply the same way in the greek world, they operated under a totally different paradigm that's hard for us to understand and love was a much more complex entity for them, than it is to us. Yes some higher class men did smash younger men (but they usually had wives too), but it was heavily frowned upon in most states, only Thebes and Elis had actual policies encouraging lovers (hence the sacred band of thebes, and possibly a sacred band in elis). In Athens, for example, it was considered shameful. We also still lack understanding of exact details of the sacred band, but it wasn't 'gay' in the modern sense of the word. Even a cursory reading of some of plato's works make it clear that it was heavily frowned upon. For example socrates often referred to Alcibiades as his lover, yet it's pretty clear he was against any physical manifestation of love but only a 'love of mind', yet the use of the word 'lover' would automatically make us assume he means gay love (which he doesn't).

I think the argument made in the video is that that's not really true, and these writeups of homosexuality are all very modern (like from the 1970s and on), and actual Greeks from that time universally condemned all forms of homosexuality, and even promiscuity, and while it obviously did happen, just like in every society to have ever existed, it was looked down upon by everyone, even by the small percentage taking part as it was seen as unnatural and an inability to control your passions, a flaw and a weakness.

As for the mentioning of Jews, it's probably because they're so often involved in these sort of smearings of Western Civilization.
