Used to live in a 500 k newly made house in Virginia which used cheap materials for the house.

Now live in a Ny brick building. My building now is old, but the materials used was and is quality and will stand the test of time.

The way that fell in basically one piece makes me think they used nails instead of screws, and missed a lot of the joists. So not a lot of support holding the drywall. Screws don't rip out of lumber like that

Because they're entire construction models are simply retarded. Even in the poorest parts of Latin America you will seen modest houses built with either brick or concrete blocks layed in proper stone masonry foundations.

In murica all you get is chit tier wood framing with ridicule drywalling and finishes, no wonder their houses fall apart like a house of card every time there's a moderate storm

Or they screwed the screws too deep and went through the paper with the head of the screw.

Pretty bad when you have lights installed and the ceiling gives. I’ve drywalled lots in the past and this is practically impossible to do unless you’re a complete idiot. I suspect they missed the studs , but when you do it’s pretty obvious when it happens. Or maybe they only used a few screws and were hoping the mud and tape would hold it up.
Anyways,I’d be concerned about the rest of the house now

where are these houses falling apart? my 1950 house is still standing and appears to have at least a few decades left (new roof this year).
