I have numerous rental properties and have never had the problems you described under the guise of 'rights for tenants'. The hammer and sickle crew on this forum is as weak as it is IRL, just saying.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

1. Reference checks
2. Credit Score
3. 40x the rental amount as net annual income, with pay stubs / bank statements to prove it.
In other threads people say that this ^ is a lie. So, try applying to rent an apartment in NYC and let me know, LARPers here who post constantly about living and working in this city, how it goes for you.
Exactly.

Housing really should be affordable for everyone and there will always be renters, people who just choose to rent or are renting places for work or are renting while they save up to buy their own property or whatever.
This idea that owning property makes someone superior, or that attempted greed will lead to good things, or home owners are stupid for owning and not investing instead, just lol at all of it. I have two houses with mortgages and am also renting a condo halfway cross the country, who gives a fuk.
But it would be advisable to not keep all your eggs in one basket over the long term, you don't want all your money in the stock market and you don't want it all in real estate or you'll miss out on opportunities to lose money if one tanks and the other doesn't.

If owning is better than renting, then the ultra rich would hold exclusively real estate in their portfolios, but they don't. With rent vs buy, the question is about whether you should hold your money in real estate or in equities, bonds, and other financial instruments.
The reality is you could either have 1 million in liquid assets or a 1 million dollar house. The appreciation on 1 million liquid minus rent is often more than the 1 million house.
Real estate is a good asset class but it's not the best.

The point was for your primary house it is better to own it than rent it, period. Your example doesn't exactly track the issue at stake.
You're in Toronto? Would it have been better to rent a nice place on Old Forest Hill Rd from 2001 until today or have bought it instead in 2001? Toronto's real estate market is a prime example here - 350k townhouses in the early 2000s selling for 1.5m+ a pop now.

It’s just important to understand that a primary home isn’t an asset. Rather it is your home, and should be enjoyed for that, not as your ticket to a secure retirement. Look elsewhere for that. Truth sets people free, and the truth that your home is not an asset but instead a liability, is one of the most important truths you can know.
Not everyone wants to lower their social status by becoming a slumlord lmaoooo. I'm ded
Your schtick sucks and it screams insecurity.
