Working a job is dehumanizing

For any amount of money. It's essentially slavery. People with more "skills" are given more perks to keep them happy little slaves.

People be spending their entire young life in slavery.

It does feel "dehumanizing" when you're working a job you hate. But it seems like humans are the only species capable of creating jobs, labor, etc so you kind of have to participate in the madness if you want to survive amongst other humanoids.

My office job is pretty chill/cozy, and I work from home a couple days a week as well. pays well too, benefits, pto, etc. Yeah, sometimes I do feel like a good little corporate slave/robot, but I'm glad I went to college and worked hard enough while I was young, so my future looks fairly comfortable if I play my cards right. Overall I don't want to work and I would like to not get married or have kids so i can save up and retire early, focus on my hobbies.

I think it’s pretty cool sometimes, you get paid and get health insurance. I am not sure how else I would get by if I didn’t have a job. Sure, it’s not much but it’s enough to support myself. What is the alternative?

I dunno, I like work, pretty much got my workaholic tendencies from my Dad and I am happy about it. Sure, I 'waste' on average 72+ hours at work each week, but I enjoy it. The money and benefits also make it well worth it.

Ironic that we're using technology to make our own lives worse lol. The dream of AI and automation was supposed to usher in a new era of freedom for humans to continue advancing our species, but we're doing the exact opposite with it.

The biggest crisis of this century will be the untold millions who no longer "deserve" food and shelter because we won't have enough make work to go around.

It may surprise some here to see me write this, but I disagree. Work gives us purpose and dignity.

Work is not the problem.

However the system of wage slavery is absolutely dehumanizing and is a trap that almost every single one of us fall into. That 9-5 grind, living paycheck to paycheck to barely get by, spending more time working than with our loved ones. Terrible. The hustle which fries your motivation and creativity, leaving you a numb shell of yourself whose daily accomplishments involve nothing except punching a clock for some company that gives zero fuks about you. That type of work is meaningless. It’s the worst part of life (ded fkin srs).

And even worse is that since we’re forced to do it out of necessity just to obtain basic food, shelter, transportation, etc. all of our time is consumed by it and that leaves virtually nothing left to figure out an escape plan. Not saying it can’t be done, but the system is designed to keep us from doing so.

Wagie checkin in, and agreed. It's a tough thing to get out of, especially without any outside help from better off family members.

That said, it can, and has been done. A number of miscers will attest to this. And people who did it tend to have little sympathy for people who did not.

Too bad you don't have skills and as such have to live a life of poverty and cope.

you missed out, they told you in school and you weren’t listening. Money is an equivalent of your usefulness to society. We work, because we want to contribute to overall effort to have world as we see it today.

Fk, I never thought THiS would need explanation. Someone, little slave, mined iron ore, another little mute slave made a vehicle you drive today, from that ore. Someone is standing watch at power plant, also slave, to keep lights in your home.
