been to one. the place pretty much emptied out right after dinner. heard the couple wasn't happy about it cuz they had entertainment planned, but lol, what did you expect? people sit there for hours drinking water and soda watching some dumb videos?

My Brother had this 20 years ago at his wedding. His (ex)wife's father was an alcoholic. My Dad and half the wedding party spent 50% of the time in the parking lot drinking beers and doing shots. I was still a teen and got wasted

It seems impossible for the anti alcohol crowd to understand that weddings are just simply more fun with booze. Period.

Their only way to cope with their boring ass weddings to paint anyone who wants to get drunk at a wedding as alcoholics or alcohol dependant to be social. Lmao, so much cope.


Theres a reason 99 percent of weddings are open bar. Because most people want to drink at weddings.

If your family likes to be sober and doesn't want to have boose at weddings, good for them, but you are the minority, and I promise anyone who isn't in your immediate family doesn't really want to go to your wedding reception.

If anyone invites me to a dry wedding I'm going to the ceremony, and stopping by the reception to eat, then I'm out. Enjoy your stiff ass dance floor and not having any drunk bridesmaides for me to embarrass myself in front of. Sorry not sorry, it just sounds like a boring event.

Also lmao, if your wedding is dry, so is the wedding gift I give. If I can't drink the cost of my gift at your reception you are getting a **** tier gift.

It's kind of lulzy how defense some are getting itt - especially since, whether they like to admit it or not, there is certainly some truth to what you're saying (and I'm not exactly a teetotaler myself, but I can be honest about the subject).

Lol when I have been 100% sober in the past I literally was the best man at my dudes wedding and I didn't have a drop. Still had a great fukking time even though everybody around me was totally sloshed. Weak ass mfers at OP's wedding srs.

Not gonna lie tho wish I did have a few before making my speech it would have been so much better.

Do people really have fun at weddings? A long ceremony, boring speeches that all sound the same, food is usually okay.

Only one in recent memory I had a lot of fun at was with a live band that was absolutely awesome, but there was booze there too.

Alcoholcels are in here having a full meltdown. Every wedding I have gone to has had alcohol, but it'd be the same for me if they didn't. If you need alcohol to have fun, you're not having fun, you're just numbing the fact that you're a boring loser with that alcohol.

People can do whatever they want for their wedding. It's their day and if you don't want to go for whatever reason, I'd hope they are mature enough to know everyone's time is valuable and don't get offended if some invited guests decline.

I would expect any wedding without alcohol to dry up pretty early after dinner/speeches and they definitely should not be offended about that. I assume the boat is docked and you're not actually forced to stay at the event for a long period of time.

i know a guy that went to a millionaires wedding on their stately home (a fancy hotel they own and run), huge outside tent for 100+ guests all Harry Potter themed (gay). anyhow, this was in the middle of nowhere, and the couple were also vegan. so you can imagine the food was sh*t. lots of guests had to try to uber to go and get booze to bring back, but it was like a 30 min drive each way to an open store. he said it was boring as fk

at least you know ahead of time

These alcohol threads are definitely eye opening.

As someone who doesn't really care about alcohol or what others do with their own alcohol intake (provided that aren't hurting anyone else thanks to their drunkenness), I can't lie - it's always the alcoholcels who are getting defense and doing by far the most screeching.

Like I already mentioned, addicts tend to get pretty pissy when these kinds of topics come up around them. A lot of alcohol addicts also don't realize that you don't need to get sloshed several times a week to be an addict. If you legit can't have fun without alcohol in social situations in general, it's a strong indication that there is at least some degree of an issue.

But booze is so normalized and has been for so long that people will never stop making excuses for it. Which is ironic. A lot of the same people who adore alcohol like to act like green is the devil. Meanwhile, when they are agetting chitfaced off tequila, vodka, whisky, and beer, it's no big deal as far as they are concerned lol
