From my fellow Covid zero peeeps I have a situation I need help with

I have a situation and need some quick advice. I've been meticulously following COVID precautions, which include wearing an Aura mask, using HEPA filters, Aranet, Enovid, Stoggles, CPC mouthwash, and more. I live in a touristy area of LA, so I basically isolate all the time, and the only person I hang out with is my boyfriend.

I've been job hunting for a remote executive assistant position since January. Today, I had a promising interview for a fully remote job based in San Francisco. The interviewer mentioned potential in-person meetings in SF and a company event, which I thought I could navigate later on.

However, she just sent me an email expressing her desire to fly to LA and meet with me in-person in the next couple of days. I'm uncomfortable with the idea, especially in a setting where masks might be removed for eating or drinking. While I need this job opportunity, my anxiety and health concerns are making me nervous about this sudden meeting request.

Should I downplay my COVID-19 safety measures to appear committed? Or should I use an excuse like frequently visiting my high-risk parents to avoid an in-person meeting? I'm worried this could cost me the job, but I also need to prioritize my health.

I appreciate all your thoughts on this. This community is a lifeline for me. Thanks in advance!

Update: I responded. Here's what I said!

"Your suggestion to meet up in person is a surprise! I can tell you've got a hands-on approach, which I absolutely appreciate. To be honest, the pandemic has got me pretty committed to keeping things virtual these days. Would it work for you if we stick to a video call for now? I can make myself available tomorrow or Friday, whichever works best for you."

​ No response yet. I spoke to the recruiter who got me the interview and explained the situation to her and she was… not happy about my response. She said, “Just meet outdoors! You’re not going to get this job if you don’t meet her. It’s a big deal that she wants to meet you in person! I wish you had talked to me first!” I agreed that okay, yes, I could meet her outdoors, but asked if it would be acceptable if I wear a mask. She said, “you don’t need to wear a mask outdoors. Come on, that was debunked like a year ago. You’re going to be sitting 5 feet away from her, it’s fine.” I just couldn’t even get into it with her about the fact that she’s wrong and the new variants are much more transmissible, even outdoors, etc, so I just said, “Yeah… I would just want to wear a mask.” She said, “If that’s what you need to do, fine, but I would send her another email and tell her you changed your mind and ask if she can meet you outdoors…” 😔 Sigh.

This is what I just sent:

Hi! So, I thought about it, and I don’t want you to feel like I’m not interested in this job or in meeting you! Would you be open to meeting at an outdoor spot if I masked up?
