How do you get around these stupid pet requirements for apartments?

Not only are there multiple several hundred $ pet deposits and more if you add another pet, you have the monthly fee and now I'm even being told by more than 1 complex they want vaccination records. I have 2 indoor cats that never step outside. Why the fuk would I go risk a shot they don't need? That they don't need? What do? Just keep looking for someone that doesn't I imagine. just so frustrating because these complexes i'm finding either have bad reviews, top floor units that I don't want, way too expensive for 1 person, not following through with pictures, or the said pet bullchit. i'm stressed.

Registering them as emotional support animals can get around some loopholes. Most apartments just require vaccination from rabies from my experience. But yes, pet deposit and pet rent is getting absurd. New apartment I'm looking at has $300 non-refundable pet deposit + 200 fee per pet + $50/month extra per pet. Luckily I only have 1 dog.

Did they say your pet needs to be vaxxed or did they say they want vaxx records?

Did they say they want vaxx records for YOUR pet or just vaxx records?

Wouldn't hold up in court but it might help you get place.

lol this.

Its one thing if you have a dog that barks and needs to be taken out to piss/chit/exercise, but if you have indoor cats or even something like a reptile or a fish as a pet, how are they going to know?

I mean, its too late now for the OP because he already told them he has the pets so they'll always be suspicious, but for the future you never had pets, hell you don't even know what a "pet" is.

The MAJORITY of pet owners (especially renters) are irresponsible POSs
If it was not such a huge risk you would not have so many against it
I had a renter pull that emotional support animal bs (fake) and nothing I could do but four months later when the lease was up they could not afford double the rent

Why would anyone who rents own a pet?

dumb me. i'm in a condo and the landlords have been here a few times so there was no hiding it, ever.
so they don't actually have someone come in and walk around after you move?

The pet rent thing is just greed but I understand a deposit if it's refundable. A lot of people are nasty without pets, and honestly they should be able to ask for a larger deposit if people have kids. I knew someone who worked in apartment management and said that kids were much worst than pets.

i've only found 1 i actually feel good about applying for. this is what they say about pet fees: "Pet Friendly NON-REFUNDABLE PET FEE: $150 to $300 PET SECURITY DEPOSIT: $1000 / PET (refundable) OR SURE BOND DEPOSIT: $175 / PET (non-refundable) PET RENT: $12 / PET / Monthly Management pet approval and the exec... "
it cuts off but a safe middleground is to bring 1 and leave 1 at a relative's until after i move in. I have 2 cats. 1 I had to inherit which i didn't mind
