A 5 pound bag of sugar lasts me several years. Same with candy. Usually end up tossing it out before I ever finish it. A while back I was digging around in the cupboard and found hard candies that had to be in there back in 2010.

Salt and meats have been my thing. Beef jerky or pepperoni is gone in no time.

That’s like saying it’s impossible to quit smoking cigarettes.

The cravings are almost identical. Fuk outta here with that weak chit son.

It's hard to quit it completely since it's in almost everything. Right now I'm doing no sweets or added sugar but don't worry about what's already in stuff.

The difference between quitting sugar and quitting smoking is that they don't put cigarettes in all the food. Just about all food has some sort of sugar in it to keep that addiction going.
Even natural foods have sugar, so having an apple or banana keeps that sweetness addiction lingering.

You need some sugars since it occurs in natural foods we need, so yeah, quitting it all is impossible. You can willpower your way into avoiding foods with added sugars.

Fuark, I haven't heard about that drug in years. Did it work? I remember it was for seizures as well. I feel like I can never get on those drugs which curb sugar cravings or just regular food cravings like Ozempic just because I love food too much. I'm waiting for the pill that comes out which blocks calories without the crazy side effects (Olestra making you crap out all your food). Will probably never happen though. Luckily I'm of normal weight still.

I am a sugar addict. Once I have some sweets I just want more and more. So I go on no sweets/added sugar stints for a month or two at a time to reset myself. I've been on this one for over a month now and not really craving it as much. Sometimes I want sweets just for the taste or if I get super stressed but I'm not fiending for the sugar. I'm going to keep this going for a while to see how long I can last.

I don't enjoy sugar at all, only time I'll ever crave sugar is when I'm extremely hungover, and even then it'll be like low cal popsicles or fruit. Not worth the calories, would rather have pizza, chicken strips, or something like that.

I've done it. Of course the few times I ate out during those periods there was still probably somehow added sugars in something.

Just cook all your own food and you can control it.

The only hard part is the initial 2 weeks or so and defeating the cravings. You feel like a sugar junkie.

How is eating a delicious apple and strawberries a waste of calories, but a 2k+ calories pizza is not? (Super Ded fkn Srs)

I cut out sugar for many years and it all started with me drinking water instead of soda. To me sugar is one of those things where once you power through cutting it off, it's very easy to go without it. As a matter of fact the few times I've had sugar over the years it's borderline awful and tastes vile.

I mean, there is sugar in so much stuff now, it can be kind of hard to avoid altogether forever. Especially if you don't want to look like an autist by making an ordeal out of obsessing over finding some boring junk to order off the menu anytime you go out to eat.

What I think's funny though is people who insist on slurping down a gallon of syrup water a day while making fun of people who choose not consume half a day's worth of calories in their beverages on a daily basis.

Look at Dave's Killer Bread

It's marketed as a healthy whole grain bread but they add a lot of sugar.

No reason to add sugar to a bread like that

No.

The problem is too many people are conditioned to think sweets are normal everyday thing to eat rather than a once in a while "treat".
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

Yes. Even if you just reduce sugar and carbs a lot overall it can make you more sensitive to sweetness. Vegetables will often taste sweet and some grain based foods.

I have to say I'm not much bothered about sugar one way or the other. I know drinking calories is a bad idea so I've cut that out for now but if I'm maintaining and want a soda once in a while I enjoy it. But I recognize it as a treat, not a beverage.

ATM I've been enjoying cherry season. So good.
