In all honesty I'd probably end up sounding like Tim Taylor explaining Wilson's wisdom, just read the wiki article on it. Here it goes anyway:

Basically the sphere is radioactive and uber dangerous when covered completely, starts a runaway chain reaction....and that's what Slotin tried to prevent from happening. Ultimately he fukked up and caused the sphere to be covered too much which bounced back the energy causing the chain reaction. The sphere went "super critical." The blue light was a flash of radiation that would have been worse for everyone in the room had he not knocked the sphere off the table. They were supposed to keep the sphere from being completely covered, and this chit happened twice before they decided to do the experiment remotely with observers stationed a quarter mile away.

Perfect timing for nuclear bomb propaganda to scare people and remind them of the big scary nukes that could totally kill everyone at any moment that every country has now but never uses. "Oh no Russia has nukes be afraid!"

The atomic bombs were just giant fire bombs and not even that crazy. But they constantly use propaganda of this giant radiation fallout scared tactic as game theory to control everyone via fear. They used to make kids in the 80s huddle under their desks as a bomb drill lmao.

Keep watching your propaganda though and keep following the media hype machines to rake in money from the gullible.

This angle doesn't sound bad at all. How could they fuk up a spy scenario? There's so much to work with there, I mean the struggle to keep this thing a secret hits from so many angles. From the secret mine in Africa they had to hide from the Germans, to the 100,000 largely ordinary people working on the project, to the scientists pulled from around the world they had to keep tabs on, to even keeping tabs on towns people surrounding the work sites. There's so much tension built in, all they had to do really was...tell the story.

They phucked it up. More focused on how fridge body sloot mistress who was a commie(who suicided). Totally blown angle. A spy angle would have been cool

I take it that it sounds like a good film to see for getting out of the heat of this hot summer for a few hours, maybe even taking a nap. I'm looking forward to watching Oppenheimer at home. My expectations for the film are not that high. I had a grandfather that was involved in finding uranium in the 1950s so from grandads work nuclear films tend to be enjoyable for me to watch. Otherwise I'd likely avoid them.

Was a good “film” in the phaqqit way people refer to bloated drama pieces as films

Overall I enjoyed it. But I doubt I’d sit through it again.

Always found Nolan movies to be hacky. Nolan is to tedious, pretentious blockbusters as Michael Bay is to CGI crapfest blockbusters.

Exactly. It's not that I dislike boring movies with more talking and less action...this movie just didn't tell a good story. Too fixated on music, setting, and camera tricks with a poor story.

Nolan needs someone in his life to give him constructive feedback. I feel like he's just surrounded by yes men at this point and lost all sense of what's good cinema

Didn't even know about Oppenheimer until I saw a pic of the peaky blinder guy. That was like 3 days ago.

i was waiting for the hype to go down a bit before going to watch it in imax for the visuals involving the scenery...but now that you said the music plays over the conversations, i know it's going to be a shiit show.

nolan had the audio problem with the dark knight rises and pretty much every movie after that. i can only imagine the garbage that it has become now.

felt like tenet was half baked in every sense and was pushed out due to budget concerns and nolan living in his head with the idea that lost too much when put to film/in practice


being surrounded by yes men is probably very accurate. from friends, to his corporate counter parts, they probably think anything he touches is gold.

Bumping this, I've just finished watching it and Jesus christ it was the biggest let down I've ever seen, I saw all the trailers and was so excited to see it.

My god it was dreadful, the whole drive home I was just ranting to my girlfriend at how **** it was. Pure disappointment.

The timelines kept changing and it's almost centred around a trial of oppenheimer post world war.

Would rather of watched barbie.

It was a money grab and made purely for an Oscar.

This was made at this exact time purely for propaganda to stroke the flames of our current fear of "nukes."

People need to stop falling for all of this stuff.
