You are fired tomorrow - How long can you survive? (Poll)

Title, but more context. How long can you survive with your current rent/mortgage, bills, maybe even living more frugally (groceries instead of restaurants, coupons, buying less chit), without having to go into debt, retirement accounts, selling all your possessions?

For me it's 1.5 years. 6 months emergency fund, and another 12 months worth of non-retirement investments I could liquidate and live off of. Mine's so high though because I've been working towards a house down payment, but feels good knowing this can be repurposed for such an unfortunate circumstance.

Curious where the Misc stands on this.

I've actually been surviving a year already on basically no income. A few big deals in the pipeline though, which will be a nice relief.

Could easily survive another few years though with no real decrease in lifestyle.

Never trusted my job so I only spend money on rice and ramen noodles and chicken and I feel like I can a new job even if I don’t like it. I’ve had like 50-60 jobs in my life

i've survived my entire life not working a job i could be fired from...never had a boss. just couldn't put myself in the position of being cucked like that

I did 4 months easily, and that was while paying rent plus I quit instead of being fired.

Finished my lease too lol. Fuk that retarded fukn job.

Probably like 10 years if I stop being a consumer and tone down my hobbies

My house is almost paid off and my cars are already, no debt outside of whats left of my mortgage.

I could rent out my spare room and really just chill tbh

Without changing a thing in regards to my current spending habits... a little over a year...

That said...

If SHTF , I can assure you I have contingency plans in place and several things would get cut off / sold that I wouldn't really miss and could easily double that time.

Indefinitely, house is paid off, I basically live off my land. I would just stop going places except for when I need supplies, everywhere delivers though

About 6 months from saving and cashing out some stuff. I also have $20K equity in my truck I could sell and buy a beater if I was out of work longer.

When covid hit I had already put in my two weeks notice so my last day was also everyone elses.

Thought I would need to go back to work but clearly I spend less than i thought I did because i havent gone back a single day. been like 3 years now and I have the same in the bank as i did when I left work.

I do have a military pension from my 20 years in the navy but thats not a huge amount, Decent but not a fortune by any stretch.

Easily 5-10 years assuming no inflation. But we may be hitting hyperinflation in that much time with how things are going, so this poll is kinda dumb.

It’s something I think of often. At most 2 months. I live paycheck to paycheck. Currently I have built my savings back up to $1k, but that doesn’t even cover a month of rent. Therefore I’d have to wipe my entire bank account to secure another month of shelter. Then use what’s remaining in my checking account on food. All other bills would have to go unpaid, so my phone, internet and lights would be shut off within 45 days or so.

The only thing that could rescue me is that I have a gold bullion coin I could pawn and a 401(k) of roughly $15k that I could withdraw with a penalty for about 10 grand. That would get me through to about Thanksgiving. Then I’d be phucked.

Poverty sucks mane.
