Bank wouldn't even let me withdraw $25k cash

Bruh..

Went to the bank to withdraw some money..

Soon as I said $25k the teller looked at me all funny...

Started asking me all kinds of retard question..

Why do you need this money?

What are you going to do with it?

Are you buying a new car or financing a house?

I was like no ****et I just want to roll around on it in my bed...

Dude kept telling me the money wouod likely be stolen and chit..

Then he says we dont carry this kind of cash at the bank it will take a few days to order the money in...

Or if a customer comes in with a large deposit we will call you sooner.

Then these phegets wrote me a cashiers check and I have to wait few days...

Dude that is unbelievable..

They treat you like a drug dealer or criminal when you just try to withdraw your own fukkin money?

Ridiculous...

They are the biggest crooks witholding our money and barley paying us interest while lending it out and gambling with it..

25k really isnt chit and all the teller and managers looked stunned when I asked them what was up..

Honestly would rather withdraw all my cash and keep it in a safe at home srs..

Had a fukkin 10 minute convo with the manager about why the bank is "safer"..

And guess what, I still didn't leave with my money..

Straight crooks..

You’re a retard trying to take out more then 10k without a phone call heads up

It’s not about the principal of the thing, it’s about getting the proper amount too the bumfuk branch from the vault with the right people making the phone calls instead of making some teller who has no idea how to make that happen.

Bet you even talked to the teller instead of a banker too.

They are like the bus boys in a restaurant, the banker are like waiters, you shoulda just given the manager a phone call heads up and not dealt with anyone else.

Must depend on branch or bank because I recently bought a car in cash and took out over 10k, they didn’t give a single fuk.

Interesting that you think $25k is nothing but are not at all aware of anti-money laundering policies or volumes of physical cash typically kept on hand

It is peanuts, it’s just tellers don’t know how to get that stuff done. And it would wipe them out of what they have access too and need manager approval and it would probably not be for clearing out the printer/sorter or even making a dent in the branch vault, but an order from the main branch vault etc ..

But I get it cuz I need large amounts of cash at a time as well. But started either calling ahead or just using a cashiers check.

Mostly cuz in all honesty police will steal it until you can get bank to clear it if your pulled over with it.

Yea I did this with 6.5k and they had to check to see if they have cash on hand to uphold that withdrawl. They also asked me why I was making the withdrawal, which is quite hilarious to me.

Something I learned not too long ago was that most banks only carry maybe 4% of cash on hand of the total deposits at their branch. If it's a small bank under a certain amount of deposit money they don't even have to carry cash on hand.

It's pretty absurd how in the dark most people are on this, including me up until the past few years. So with big withdrawals like yours OP I was told the same thing Duckliver is saying to do which is to call ahead.

There's a reason I only keep about 10k total in the bank now.

The issue with moving amounts over $10k I think comes down to reporting requirements and anti-laundering policies, tax evasion, etc, moves of over $10k require federal disclosure

And therein lies one of the few actual uses for crypto: doing shady chit

I've had them give me shiit for pulling out 12, sandbagging wouldn't even call other branches. Remember they lend your deposits out and don't have cash to cover it so

And this.

Most tellers only have ~$5k absolute max in their drawer at any given time. Once they reach a certainly threshold, lets say $10k (maybe more, maybe less depending on the bank), then they need to put a certain amount back in the vault. It depends on the particular bank's policy. Then the vault can only have a certain amount as well. It's also typical bank policy (sometimes regulatory policy, sometimes non-regulatory policy) for the teller to ask questions about large withdrawals. Mostly because they want to know if they are losing a client in case they need to try to save the relationship, but sometimes to detect suspicious activity. Any withdrawal over $10k must have an automatic Currency Transaction Report filed. Any "suspicious" withdrawal under $10k must have a Suspicious Activity Report filed (it's essentially up to the teller to decide whether or not it's "suspicious"). This is due to federal bank regulation.

At the end of the day, it's wise to know your particular bank's policy on large cash withdrawals ahead of time. After a certain amount of time, you may be able to establish particular rules about your own account if you have a good relationship with your bank. At a bare minimum, it's wise to call ahead of time if you have a significant cash withdrawal. It gives the bank a heads up and they can let you know exactly how soon they'll have the money ready so you aren't wasting everyone's time (your own time included).

If it's all held at the same bank, this would be unusual as it's not a cash transaction and there is a clear record of where that money is going.

That’s strange. How’s business setup?

I’ve never had issues but possibly has to do with business structure, even then should be the irs’s issue not the banks. If it’s just an LLC they should have no reason and that’s a fairly small amount for businesses/proprietors to move around
