Gas prices surging, highest in 8 months

https://www.nbcnews.com/business/con...mber-rcna96703

Cliffs:

- $3.71 per gallon right now
- highest since November 2022
- the rise is seen as a direct consequence of OPEC's cutting oil production drastically
- OPEC's decision to cut oil production is direct consequence of Biden admin's statement that they won't refill USA Oil Reserve
- Elevated gas prices will affect inflation report. Most of the inflation "decline" year-over-year is from energy costs, which was at record highs in 2022

Almost half of the SPR has been drained by Biden, putting it at the lowest levels since it was still being built up 40 years ago. Back then there were 100,000,000 less people in the US so these levels are dangerously low in case a true emergency happens. With prices climbing they'll likely drain the SPR even more. Maybe snubbing the Saudis and their leader wasn't such a great idea, Joe.

"Don't underestimate Joe's ability to fukc things up." -Barack Obama (who didn't endorse his former VP Biden until it was clear he was the Dem candidate)

Russia's selling just as much oil as it was before invading Ukraine, now just $15/barrel cheaper than benchmark Brent crude. Dude. We better hope US fracking picks up.

I believe the premise is that gas prices have a ripple effect because so much of the economy relies on gasoline. The Feds and Biden admin have gone on record saying that they need low gas prices for economic recovery

Remember when Trump's massive $8 trillion debt dumped into the economy and gas prices went over $5 a gallon and Biden quickly took action to lower them... and not a single poorcell Trumper here thanked him? Now they're bitching again. Maybe this time he should just let them suffer lol.

Gas prices go up in the summer, but that rise happens typicallyfrom May through June. All analysts right now agree that the current increase in gas prices is from OPEC's production cuts, which took effect this month; as well as some US oil refineries shutdown because of extreme heat. It's not the natural summer-increase in gas price

https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/Le...TE_NUS_DPG&f=W

https://www.convenience.org/Topics/F...ng-Gas-Prices#
Traditionally, gasoline prices are at their lowest during the first week of February and then begin to climb, often peaking right before Memorial Day.
https://www.axios.com/2023/04/26/gas...lend-fuel-2023
The big picture: Over the last 10 years, the average date summer gas prices have peaked nationally has been May 2, Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, told Axios.

that's what they will do if need be. Should be impeached for that, btw. they'll do it near the election if they need to (again).

US goods travel mostly by trucks. You think this is the highest it's gonna go in the next year? Thankfully China's economy is sideways or we'd be screwed by now. Half of the SPR is gone now and draining it much more will become a big national security risk.

Don't worry, I'm sure another Republican will take/steal the White House again and send this country into another recession and we'll top off our reserves with cheap gas again.

"Even a 1-cent rise in the cost of a gallon of gas can make a big difference, Bloomberg reportedWednesday, taking away roughly $1.15 billion in annualized spending power. In other words, higher gas prices deprive American consumers of money they could spend elsewhere. "

Lmao you act like gas prices have never changed before. They fluctuate all the time.. no big deal.

It's almost like you forgot we were at $5 a gallon prices and all the doom and gloom Biden blamers came out of the woodwork and then prices went back to normal (pre-pandemic prices - not the $2 a gallon gas Trump had when the entire planet stopped demand for oil)

Poor old fool is almost as demented as Biden (and yeah, gas prices that began skyrocketing under his illegitimate reign of terror are 100% his fault).

Imagine buying an EV before lighter, much safer, much faster charging solid state batteries.

Tesla has lowered the price of its Model 3 and Y substantially this year, which is cool and all but when you cut the price by 20% what do you think that does to the resale value? Imagine buying a base Model 3 in 2022 for $50K, then you try to trade it in 2027. "Sorry, the best we can do is $11,000." Fuark.

Look bro, the good job numbers are cause the Biden economy.

The gas prices and inflation are cause the Trump economy, got it?

We are in both economies at the same time.

Wish Biden and the Democrats would allow America to become energy independent once again, as seen during Trump's time in office. Till that happens some are predicting gas prices will continue to rise higher.

Course Biden will likely sell more emergency oil if gas prices become to high, in hopes of influencing the election.

Are you referring to that there "summer driving season" that gets mentioned every summer?
And the Saudi oil production cut, and the war?
