No I’m just curious as to why people use the term grifter as if it’s an insult. I’d take it as a massive compliment. And if I ever got to the point where people were calling me a grifter I’ll know I’ll have made it.

Look at Starbucks for example, that company grifted millions of people world wide into believing that carrying around mediocre coffee in a Starbucks cup made them trendy and upper class.

Look at the Voss water. By drinking out of a glass bottle with a cool logo you appear sophisticated and trendy.

We wouldn’t consider the founder of Starbucks as a grifter but instead he’s praised for being a smart businessman.

Is tate a grifter or just a smart businessman taking advantage of idiots like most businesses do?

IDK, to me the whole "self help" type thing is about the most exploitative and scummy "grift" out there. If people want to be idiots and spend a bunch of money on overpriced starcucks, or some other stupid product, I think that's a bit different than being some guy acting like you're out to help men and then turning around and selling (most likely crappy) expensive products to them, or some expensive "inner circle". Same goes for PUA gurus doing their stupid seminars and "bootcamps", or people paying thousands of dollars to watch Tony Robbins walk on coals and hype them up, or Grant Cardone, etc. etc.

Yeah, the people who are blowing massive money on that stuff are idiots - but again, I still think it's scummy as Hell to exploit people that way - regardless of whether you want to call it "finessing" "grifting" or whatever.

The guy preaches about men being alpha, being the best they can be, whatever.... But is in the porn business, something that is ruining young men at an alarming rate.

Even his hustler university, which is supposed to obviously help men... Doesn't give you any real results to take into the real world. Maybe you gain some knowledge, but you can also find free information about what he's teaching pretty much anywhere.

So to me he's a grifter, because it's not that he isn't actually helping young men, but he was/is actively helping to destroy young men with porn.
