I have a Prius. I would rather drive that than be seen driving a boxster. even being seen as a passenger with a 10/10 woman....would still feel like a bitch.

btw: caymans are OK because they are very very good track cars. all carcelling is stupid though and you only attract dorks.

for any luxury car (obvs non lexus goat brand) you will get 20 men asking you about your car for every one woman.

sounds good you say? Just LOL at that woman being attractive as well. Of course some carcel will chime in telling you his Ferrari is how he met his wife....yeah maybe...but now you'll be talking to 50 men for every one woman who asks about it....not worth it.

btw: women only interested in really high-end cars cuz they imagine they money you would spend on a date. what is upsetting is when asking a carcel about the engine of Ferrari and he doesn't know what horsepower/type. I ask cuz I know a lot about cars and the engineering on high-end cars is very unique usually.

You do realize that the Cayman and Boxster are the same car, right? Just convertible or not. At least the first few gens were. In reality, Porsche should make the mid-engine layout the 911 default but they are too set in their ways. The mid-engine cars (if everything else were made equal, like power), would be better handling and better balanced.

They've made great strides in the rear engine suspension, but that is still a lot of weight BEHIND the rear axle. Anyone who has driven a RWD car knows the issues with that (more if not all 911s are AWD now which helps that a lot though).

i would never consider buying a Ferrari / lambo etc unless I made at least 750k+/yr


i usually make one third of that so my idea of carmaxxxing is dumping money into base model entry level bmws lol (ded fkn Srs)

The new Boxsters are like $130k. They're not great, but it's definitely not a $50k entry-level car anymore.

At a track event, I struck up a conversation with Porsche suspension engineer wagie. He said the suspension guys beg to change the layout every chance they get (and this was 8-9 years ago), but the marketing and sales bros say customers only want rear engine Porsches.

did not know that. I only remember seeing a cayman with a spoiler and that musta threw me off. I always think of boxsters as looking like glorified Miatas...but maybe I'm wrong?

Yeah, I've heard the same thing for years. While they really have almost perfected what a rear engine car can do, simply physics show that it is inherently inferior to mid engine. Anyone who had a physics class where they did levers, moments of inertia, etc. understand how much better it is to have the most weight between the axles as possible. They oftentimes even put the brake calipers on the side of the wheel to face the center of the car to have that weight as close to the center mass as possible. Little things like that are so cool from a design aspect.

I've heard that the reason is 911s have been that way for so long, that they are just too pigheaded to change (and since they now have mid-engine, low priced / lower status cars for sale), it would be an embarrassment to them.

But you know who usually wins out between engineers and techs vs the people in control of the money like sales and marketing unfortunately.
