I know. It's absolutely unbelievable to the point where you can only laugh. They bought a truck company Holland (that we used all time), fired them all then tried to rehire them for less pay and part time. That was like 7 months ago. Now they're all out of a job. BRUTAL.

Nope, uncontrolled corporate profits did.

+ Any company that receives any sort of government subsidies shouldn’t be allowed to do stock buybacks for a certain amount of years after receiving those subsidies. Nor should they be allowed to do layoffs when executives are getting any sort of bonuses if they received the same subsidies

On a stair climber currently but it’s more nuanced than that. Companies shouldn’t be allowed to price gauge, shrinkflate, have stock buybacks, etc when they have such massive profits. Then they’l run themselves into the ground, need bailouts and rinse/repeat. They shouldn’t have all the safety nets they have with such massive executive greed

Completely agree about banning layoffs post-receipt of government subsidies, but why not allow stock buybacks? Anyone who invests in the market wins?

Because the purpose of a company should be, at least in some portion, to better their customer and not just drive never ending stock growth. The fact that every company is trying to move to a subscription model and our economy is rapidly morphing into a “own nothing, rent everything” is tragic

But that’s the entire point of a capitalistic company so hypotheticals are always dumb. Investing in stocks is the realistic solution
