My ancestors were hugely mistreated in the European countries they fled - my mom’s side left a fcking castle behind. I’m not bitter at Germans today.

Europeans and later Americans did no worse than the Native Americans did to each other for thousands of years. The white man was tame AF compared to how the Aztecs were against others native tribes for hundreds of years.

Think about all the money wasted on reservations and subsidizing the life of all these natives, what if those resources were spent on white Americans, the people who made America the place everyone in the world wants to move to, to have more babies?

In the case of what is today Mexico, most of the natives sided with the Spaniards, because the Aztecs were so brutal. Even with superior technology the Spanish wouldn't have been able to capture all of that land without the aid of the natives because they were so vastly outnumbered.

Interestingly because they were Catholic, unlike the protestants further north, they intermarried rather than treating the natives like subhumans. The same thing happened in Quebec with the Catholic French vs the protestant English. We don't hear much about this in the US due to black legend that exists in many historical accounts written in English.
