Don't regret tuning out of mainstream news one bit

A few years back, I decided to ignore the constant bombardment of 24/7 news, and just focus on the things within my sphere that I can control.

It made life so much less stressful.

I filter the news severely, so much of it is a virtue signaling toxic platform now.

Factual and evidence based reporting on situations around the world does exist, for those able to stomach it.

There is no real news anymore, it's just a field of mass drama and fear propaganda. The average retard loves drama, hence why all those reality tv shows are always popular. When was the last time you saw a positive story on mainstream media? (Super Ded fkn Srs)

I did the same and, you're right, it's better. I may live in bubble, but what is MSM going to do other than make my blood pressure higher. That's their only goal, to outrage. I try to steer clear on IG too as that's my only social media, but man does it shove it down my throat.

Your elected representatives might though. Not sure how political you are but I am motivated to make sure that the U.S' contributions abroad make sense, considering how much of it could be used to improve this fine country instead.

I mention that to people. A news story about a puppy saving a baby from a burning building or something? A few minutes of "Aww, that's nice".

A woman found tied up and gang raped for years? Daily news coverage for weeks. They know that despair is a drug to us. Like the second guy said, it's like sugar for our brain. We're addicted, but it provides us with no nutrition.

I've been doing this pretty much since the late 90's, early 2000's. I checked out links that were posted here during rhe coof / vax bullchit and got tired of it and went back to no news.

If I really want the news I turn the AM radio on and hear everything in 5 or 10 minutes. Mostly I just want the weather report and that's all.

I was just thinking the same thing this morning when my old lady was listening to a news podcast. I was heavy into it during covid because some of the atrocious decision making almost cost me my job and cost my girl her job for refusing the vax.

Once all the BLM riots and **** was going down and I was finding myself arguing with people online I decided that it was time to stop giving it my attention and unfollowed a ton of accounts and stopped listening to certain podcasts.

Now I can worry about a bunch of other **** instead of bull**** in the news.

I quit keeping up with national news and politics around 2017 and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Now that I've unplugged from it listening to people IRL regurgitate narratives they've heard on CNN, Fox or Newsmax makes them seem insane. I've had to tell my mother in law she's not allowed to talk about politics in my house. She's a sweet lady but turns deranged whenever that subject comes up. I watch the local news that effects me directly but that's it.
