FBI and CIA controlling Wikipedia since at least 2008

So says it's co-founder Sanger, who says they have evidence:

Speaking on Greenwald's 'System Update' podcast, Sanger lamented how the site he helped found in 2001 has become an instrument of “control” in the hands of the left-liberal establishment, among which he counts the CIA, FBI, and other US intelligence agencies.

-"We do have evidence that, as early as 2008, that CIA and FBI computers were used to edit Wikipedia," before posing: "Do you think that they stopped doing that back then?

-Sanger explained that the intelligence agencies "pay off the most influential people to push their agendas, which they’re already mostly in line with, or they just develop their own talent within the community, learn the Wikipedia game, and then push what they want to say with their own people."

-Sanger calls it "the most biased encyclopedia" in history.

You're in the wrong century regarding the intelligence agencies. If you've spent any time at Wikipedia you know it's not right wing point of view. A sample:

Entries about Covid are laughably biased toward left leaning government establishment propaganda views as well. During the interview Greenwald lambasts the Wikipedia entrees on Covid, which paint the idea of lab leak as wild conspiracy theories even though lab leak is by far the leading opinion, and with damn good reason, including top virologists in the world's emails to Fauci in the beginning of 2020.

Since at least 2015 Google has pushed Wikipedia based data to the top 1-2 results in searches more than properties Google itself owns like Youtube. This all makes sense considering the coordination between Google and social media giants with US intelligence agencies. The incestuous relationship between said companies and US intelligence goes deep.

I don’t know about 2008 but Wikipedia became INSANELY biased in recent years. I remember when they had a strict neutral stance, their policy being that articles count not inject opinions or use a tone that took one particular side, and they enforced it. Then a couple years ago I was reading a page involving Trump and it read like an MSNBC hit piece. Today Wikipedia’s political articles are basically far left propaganda. They’re still decent for pop culture, sports and other chit like that, but I don’t trust their information on any contemporary political topic.

That's a fair assessment. For awhile I've looked at Wikipedia as a place to go for only certain things, like population of a city, info about a country, or maybe an interesting person's bio. But anything remotely connected to politics you're going to get what protects powerful interests and it's been obvious for a long time. The original co-founder of Wiki saying all this doesn't surprise me, but I'm still glad he's revealed it.

Wikipedia is the single most influential media operation ever in all of human history – by a huge margin. The fact that it is totally controlled by the CIA should be the biggest story of the decade.
